I heard it was a Carrera GT. The whole thing is sad.

People drive into trees and other nonmovable objects every day. What alternative are you proposing happened instead of an accident?

Well, MAYBE he was speeding. But it is possible that he had a medical emergency like a heart attack or seizure before the crash.

I think they were deliberately driving in an unsafe manner. That's not an accident. They drove unsafely on purpose. Maybe it wasn't their specific intent to hit a tree, but when someone chooses to drive unsafely, things like this are bound to happen.

I'm so sick of people saying it's a "tragedy" whenever a celebrity dies as a result of their own irresponsible and/or illegal behavior. I think River Phoenix was a great actor, but I never thought it was a "tragedy" that he killed himself with illegal drugs. It was an "irresponsibility," and it was a "stupidity," but it was not a "tragedy."

OK. That's a good point. That could have been the reason.

Can you imagine what it would have been like if the internet existed back in James Dean's day?

Didn't his death become a little more "tragic" after awhile, though? I get he was a Hollywood icon (and I love all of his movies), but was he on top of the world back then?

Reminds me of when Pelle Lindberg of the Flyers died in the 80's.

Pretty sure he was driving a Porche and he drove straight into a small concrete wall at a turn, he didn't turn while driving at a high speed.

Maybe, Dean was before my time, so I just know the after stuff. I am surprised Walker was this "big", as far as how people are acting. I agree that he seemed to be a cool, down to Earth type of guy.

Re: Paul Walker has died.

Apparently they had about 1 more month of shooting left for Fast 7. Walker wasn't wrapped yet.

I wouldn't expect them to resume filming until well after the new year after Universal figures out what the hell to do.

Re: Paul Walker has died.

They're saying that the CEO of his company, Always Evolving, was behind the wheel. There's also a few photos from the event today including one of him standing by the Porsche.

It's also possible the car developed a mechanical issue.

By the twisted look of the car in post #106, this is probably a safe bet.

Driver error and road conditions could factor in, also. It's obviously not a closed course where you can go all out. If they knew they we're going for some hot laps they should of held the event on a race track and not on the streets. Really stupid.

Re: Paul Walker has died.

How long until detailed, up-close photos of the crash surface online on some shock site?

I'm still wondering how the car was crumpled that badly. The tree it hit looked like a twig.
