He was new to it. And had the racetrack on his mind (the track appears earlier in the movie). So it wasn't so random.

Also, the Green Lantern references in here (in this thread, the Superman/Batman thread, and the Guardians thread) got me to watch the movie for the first time.

Not awful. Just not very strong. I can appreciate that it's not placing anything in the "real world", the way Marvel is doing. Lots of lore and mythology packed in there. It was almost just too much to make a really good movie.

Pacific Rim has $110m overseas for a Worldwide total of $178.5m

Ouch, R.I.P. should have been titled D.O.A.

At first they said $20 million, but $12 million makes John Carter (I did like JC, grew up reading it and it was what I remember) look like a mega hit.

Ryan R is having big problems in the B.O.

$4.5m Wednesday for Conjuring, up to $57.5m so far. Very curious to see how well it holds up next weekend. I'm still thinking $100m by Wednesday with a $31m weekend. (26% drop)

26% drop this weekend? Um no... 50% minimum, probably close to 65%.

I think it'll have a drop around 40-45%. I'd love to see it do under 30%, but this is a horror flick, after all.

Yeah you're probably right. Very strong mid-week performance for an R-rated movie regardless.

Great movie, rarely talked about:
