August: Osage County...ok performances, not for me. too dark and not an once of levity. just mean spirited and uneven performances imo.
Tiny Furniture...just an extended Girls episode. ok, i guess.

The Seventh Continent - 4.5/5
The film debut of Michael Haneke and oh what a debut it is. It chronicles the slow disintegration of an Austrian family as they become desensitized to the everyday existence of their routine filled lives.
Excellent film that will crush your soul and make you think about how our lives have become imprisoned to industrialization.

Down to the Bone - 4/5
After trying to use her son's birthday money to purchase drugs a working class mother decides to clean up her act. While in rehab she falls for a male nurse who was former drug user and works at the facility.
A very honest and realistic portrayal of addiction with an excellent performance from Vera Famiga.

Fargo - 4 / 5 - Aged very, very well. Still one of the best paced Coen movies.

Captain Blood- Black and white swashbuckler from Michael Curtiz starring the dashing Errol Flynn and Olivia De Havilland. Though a bit slow to start, it hits a nice, breezy pace in the second half and maintains it throughout, the final action sequence is pretty impressive even by today's standards, and would obviously go on to influence people like Spielberg and Jackson. Good fun, though sadly not on Blu-Ray as yet. Watched it clear up space on my already half-full DVR, have to find some way of getting some of that stuff off of there. Bless you, TCM, for showing all of this cool stuff, but damn you HDCP! I'd buy it if I could!

The Wrath of Vajra - convoluted tale but spectacular and brutal martial arts sequences.
Bad Asses - it's a bad film with a heart. Lots of funny inside jokes and elder humor in there to balance out its shortcomings.

Love Punch 5/10 - britcom with a several middle-aged character actors executing a script that didn't really measure up to that of Quartet or Most Exotic Hotel whose market it aimed at. Not saying much, but I'd say that Le Week-end was probably a better film about middle-aged Brits in France. Maybe because of the character actors and caper element, Love Punch had the feel of an "upmarket" Booze Cruise.
Transcendence 6/10 - somewhat predictable, near-future skiffy. OK.
Spiderman2 8/10 - I enjoyed this - especially the Ditko-style Peter Parker - but slightly disappointed that MJ was axed from the final version of this movie.
Noah 7/10 - Old Testament epic with a bit of extra hokum of the graphic novel variety. I enjoyed it for what it was.

The Quiet Ones - 3/5 - It was okay. Not really scary. I met Olivia Cooke twice, one at WonderCon and other from last night at Premiere/Afterparty.
