Searching For Bobby Fischer (1993)
Wonderful and heartwarming film and one of my favourites. This movie is not just about chess. I like rewatching this movie once in a while and would be an instant upgrade if it's released on Blu-ray for me. Top cast including Max Pomeranc as a young Josh Waitzkin.

I think the original DVD release by Paramount is OOP and the only way that you can get this movie is through Warner Archive as a MOD release.

The Possession of Joel Delaney - 1.5/5

The brother of a wealthy woman starts acting strange after being released from a psychiatric ward for assaulting his landlord. Pretty bad film with some racist overtones.

88 (2014) on Netflix. "A young woman comes to in a roadside diner with no idea where she is or how she got there." Memento-like (and -lite) film with little going for it except Katharine Isabelle in the red dress, which she only wears in a few scenes. You're better off just staring at the cover artwork for a bit.

Trog (1970)

A caveman is discovered in a cave (where else?) in England; Joan Crawford captures and tries to teach him to live in society. It’s not all that dissimilar to My Fair Lady, when you get right down to it.

Torture Garden (1967)

Sideshow charlatan Dr. Diablo (as played by Burgess Meredith) shows four people what will happen in their near futures if they don’t straighten up and fly right. In the dumbest story, a concert pianist’s piano gets jealous of his girlfriend and exacts its revenge. Other highlights include psychic cats, cyborg actors, and Jack Palance being, well, Jack Palance. This probably could have been fun in the right director’s hands, but Freddie Francis just wasn’t the right director.

I liked it, as preposterous as it was. His attempt at a Brooklyn accent was pretty funny, though.

The Voices. Kind of entertaining but I thought it could have been a little better.

Starred Up - 4.5/5

A young man in his late teens is transferred two years before his time from juvenile prison to an adult prison because of his violent nature. In the adult prison, his father who is also a con tries to guide him in the right direction. A very intense and brutal depiction of prison life with excellent acting, script & direction.

Fright Night (1985) 3/5
Inside 4.5/5 - I think this may be the grossest movie I've ever seen
Starry Eyes 4/5 - surpsingly pretty good
The houses October Built 3.5/5 - another surprise

Jupiter Ascending (3D / Dolby Atmos) visually it works - the script an utter mess.

I thought it was OK. Much like the director's other film Unknown, it's very much like a pulpy novel in the Stephen King-type vein. You could fit the 747 through the holes in the plot, but it's decent forgettable fun.

Smile Pretty - 1/5

A 14 year old girl who is sexually abused by her adoptive father falls in love with and older man who happens to be a pedophile. Although the subject matter is disturbing, everything is implied in this badly made film.

Good flick, saw it a while back - I like the little twist at the end, while many may have seen it coming, I didn't - also like how the film didn't bank on that gimmick at all.
