How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World (2019) — Satisfying finale to what I'd term a satisfying trilogy. Never was completely in love with these movies although the characters were fun and animation absolutely beautiful, but otherwise kind of had a take it or leave it attitude. This third entry was good. Not much more or less. I did like the interactions between the Vikings and the dragons but the story itself, along with the villain, was thin. 3.75/5

Apart from a few (sexist or racist) jokes, I didn't perceive this as a spy film parody at all. I think they took themselves rather seriously. Which made it worse for me.

Clean Skin (2012)

Not particularly gripping "arab-terrorists-in-London" movie. Sean Bean's character as the ex-military tracking down a cell of muslim extremists I did not care for. I prefer the first seasons of the BBC's "MI-5" (known as Spooks in England).

Coogan's Bluff (1968)

Another rather bad Clint film. As usual, his total lack of acting abilities make it laughable. His straight-face, no-talking-just staring-with-meaningful-mean-eyes style worked well in Leone's trilogy, but for most of his other films (except maybe Dirty Harry) it's sort of embarassing. I think it's more the icon that worked and made his career than the actual acting. Here he 'plays' an Arizona cop who goes to NY to retrieve a prisoner to be brought back for judgement. But he soon gets entangled in the Big Apple's police procedures and administration complexities and decides to play it cowboy style by doing the job himself no matter the conseequences.

Johnny Mnemonic (1995)

Lovely cheesy B-movie partly shot here in Montréal. In a futuristic society ruled by pharmaceutical companies the ever talented Keanu plays a psycho-courrier who must deliver some informations stuck in his brain-memory chip from Shanghai to New Jersey but with piles of people (including Dolph Lundgren and Takeshi Kitano) trying to stop him from succeeding. I like the ambiance and the plot though the sfx would need a bigger budget. Still, I revisit it every decade or so. Guilty pleasure for sure.

Nicholson, Jeff Daniels, and Lithgow were in it so it was not completely unbearable and a decent watch.

What a beautiful film. And the shoot was a complicated thing lasting several years on and off (depending on the money Welles could gather to film bits at a time) One of my favourite of his.

Crank (2006) — Last saw this when it was released on DVD and having gotten the 4K UHD decided to give it another try as my first impressions was it was mediocre. Second time around? I liked it a little more even with the sometimes annoying frenetic direction. I did like both Jason Statham and Amy Smart and generally was entertained. 3.5/5

Batman (1989) — With the new 4K release, got a chance to watch this again after a long hiatus (last time was probably in '09) and still holds up fairly well, love Keaton in the role though Tim Burton's set design (which did win an Academy Award) still bothers me, though still not as obvious as a warehouse set compared to Batman Returns... Even so, was entertaining.

As a side, what other movie produced action figures that included the villain's henchman? Still remember the "Bob" figure. :lol:

Went to a preview showing - very much enjoyed the film. If you like 2001 and Solaris, this would make a great 3rd for a trilogy.

The Head Hunter (2019)

Somewhere in-between The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim & Predator is this film.

Fantastic Prop & Set Design.

Even at 72-minutes, this film feels extremely long. This is mostly due to the dull repetition of the Main Character's Monster Hunts.

This should have been a fun/exciting moment in a film like this but due to a clear lack of budget in the area of making a full-fledged monster, the film usually shows him returning from his hunts, not engaging in them. In the small amount of time monsters are shown fighting with him, shots are out of focus, frenetic and too-close up.

The film gets a smidge more exciting in the final 25-minutes of the film but by then it was a little too late.
