Terminator Genisys - 1.5/5
Started off OK, but the longer it went on, the sillier it became. An unnecessary cash grab that takes a dump on the first two films by trying to cater to a younger audience. A ridiculous script, terrible casting, trying too hard to be funny (which it's not), bad CGI and incompetent acting. I hope this is the final nail in the coffin of this franchise.

John Wick - 1.5/5
What started out with potential, turns into a typical formulaic revenge film. Let's revive Keanu Reeves career by making him the new Liam Neeson. Just like Mad Max Fury Road, after a while the over abundance of action and ridiculous cartoon violence became boring. If the people that made this had 1/10th the talent of Michael Mann or Johnnie To they might have done something decent. Oh well.

I watched The Perks of Being a Wallflower tonight. I thought it was fantastic. Wonderful performances by Emma Watson, Ezra Miller, and Logan Lehrman. I really liked the book. The writer of the book wrote the screenplay and directed the movie. I thought he did a superb job. 4.5/5

Suture (1993) — Amazingly surreal film noir that engrossed me from the beginning. Fantastic performance from Dennis Haysbert mixed in with great direction from David Siegel and Scott McGehee in their feature debuts.

I just watched The Lobster (2015). It was the strangest movie that I have ever seen. There were things that I really liked about it and things that I hated. It was also way too long. I had to take three or four breaks while I was watching it. 2/5

I thought the directors would go on to great things, but Time has proven otherwise (unless I missed something).

"One-Eyed Jacks" from Criterion. I was aware of the film but never took it seriously because it was one of those Public Domain films that were only available with lousy PQ.
The Criterion version features a new restoration of the Vistavision film and it looks terrific (though a bit more "Digital" than "Film-like").
It's a Western and the only film Marlon Brando both directed and starred in. Overall, it's an interesting film, -not a Classic, but better than average, even though the story has some odd shifts and some logic puzzlers. It has a great cast (except for a bland love interest) and some striking settings.
The extras do a nice job of explaining the rather long and tortured creation of the film.

Secret Life of Pets...great. Very simple story, reminiscent of every animated movie ever, especially the Toy Story's, but this had its own vibe. Very nice story close. Looked really good in 3D. A lot of nice effects. Enjoyable all around.

Xanadu
I know it's not the best thing to admit, but I actually really liked it. Pure '80s cheese at its finest.

Just one of the moving speeches at the remembrance. Longer version as well as a bunch more on YT. Including a moment of silence. I didn't post that one. That's pretty easy to imagine in your own mind.

The Unspoken — Middling supernatural horror downgraded to terrible courtesy of cliched jump scares and accompanied score.

Gravity (3D)...just stunning, even on the small screen. I can't imagine how anyone can watch this in 2D. It's not made for that.

Gods of Egypt - I had low expectations and found it kind of fun. It's pretty cheesy, and Gerard Butler chews the scenery into bits, but Jaime Lannister was good and Elodie Young is easy on the eyes. Better than the 'Titans' movies, to damn with faint praise.

Spectral (2016)
New Netflix original movie that was just posted a few days ago. Basically it's Gears of Wars meets Call of Duty meets Ghostbusters.
Gritty with lots of action, but no blood. It's a very PG-13-ish and feels more like a video game. Some decent actors, but it's nothing really memorable. If you have Netflix and are a video gamer, it might be worth killing the 108 minutes.
