High and Low could possibly be Kurosawa's best film. Near perfect. Just doesn't get the attention that his samurai/historical films get.
I love High and Low.

High and Low is great. If you're interested, read King's Ransom by Ed McBain which Kurosawa loosely based it on. The movie crafts a story that's a million times better, but it's interesting to compare.
I'd still say Ikiru is my favorite from what I've seen though.

Butter - uneven at times, but I still enjoyed it.

End of Watch 3/5 - Not a bad movie at all. I liked the day-to-day of being a police officer vibe it had. Good performances. Some of the way of it was filmed was a bit distracting. The stuff from the point of view of the Mexican gang was extremely annoying.

PITCH PERFECT
this is essentially BRING IT ON but with singing instead of cheerleading. it was predictable but Anna Kendrick's charm keeps in enjoyable for the most part. i did like the off-the-wall humor provided by Rebel Wilson and the asian chick. not bad but nothing special going on either. 3/5

On the plane to and from Ireland:
Looper
Pitch Perfect
Premium Rush
End of Watch
Surprisingly enjoyed Pitch Perfect the most. End of Watch was gripping, but Jesus was it depressing. Rush was decent fun, and thought Looper was just so-so.

Total Recall (remake) - I actually enjoyed it a lot. I went in with the lowest of expectations and enjoyed the fantastic special effects and exciting stunt work. It felt slightly hollow but overall I enjoyed it quite a bit. Though in full disclosure I should admit that I never thought the Arnold version was all that great.

Argo - the hype is justified. Affleck was the bomb in Argo, yo!

Source Code - I had no idea Duncan Jones was behind this one. Had I known that I would have watched it much sooner. Fantastic riff on Groundhog Day meets Quantum Leap. Gyllenhaal did a fantastic job. Moon is still the better of his two films, but after back-to-back homers, I'm down for whatever this guy does next.
Real Steel - A very predictable sports movie filled with all the marquee cliches, plot twists and even has an obnoxious kid who doesn't respect his elders. All the earmarks of a bad movie, but somehow this one overcomes all that and is a damn entertaining movie.

American Reunion -
This was like a who's-who of who's-not-working. I'll give them some credit for doing the best job of emulating the first film possible, but this was just a total wreck from the first frame. Rehashed jokes, pointless cameos, entire scenes lifted from the first. Chu's bizarre arc was actually my favorite part of the movie, and he was a very minor character.

Taken 2 - a pretty good blind buy. Felt like a dumbed down version of the first one, but still entertaining. Still can't believe that guy is 60 yrs old and still kicking ass.
