I would like to see Tom Cruise ruin his rep and play the Rourke character in Year of the Dragon.

Rourke has his issues but he is not indoctrinated in a Scientology cult like Cruise is.

Ironically, I hadn't thought about Rourke in years. But yeah, Cruise is irrelevant.
Oh, and Top Gun 2 just beat Titanic for domestic Paramount Studios box-office.

I guess you don't watch any of his movies or any tv shows or movies with Elizabeth Moss.

Maybe she got out or it was part of her past.

Elisabeth Moss Speaks Out on Scientology, From ‘Handmaid’s Tale’ Criticism to Profane Emmys Speech

Moss’ fans have long had to reconcile her award-winning gifts as an actor with her involvement in Scientology, especially because “The Handmaid’s Tale” casts her as a feminist warrior fighting back against an oppressive and cultish government. The clash between “The Handmaid’s Tale” and Scientology has led to criticism against Moss. When The New Yorker writer Michael Schulman brought up that some fans are “distracted” by her Scientology ties, she responded, “People can obviously hold in their mind whatever they want to, and I can’t control that. If it’s not that, it’s going to be something else.”

Rourke said as an actor Tom Cruise is irrelevant for him, he explicitly didn't mean fame or movie stardom. I think it's not disrespectful or dillusional if Mickey Rourke doesn't appreciate Cruise's acting (choices). Tom Cruise doesn't show a lot of range. Most of his movies are sequels and some of his parts a pretty similar even in different franchises. Jack Reacher, Mission: Impossible, The Mummy, American Made, Oblivion or Knight and Day aren't that diffrent and even is part in Edge of Tomorrow where he starts off as a coward, becomes the (action) hero.

We all know he can do more as an actor, but those aren't the roles he's picking and they always were in the minority, which is fine by me. I enjoy Tom Cruise's movies a lot.

He always plays the guy who runs down the street.

I can look at Rourke's filmography for the past 10 years and it's pretty much all crap, so him talking shit or being "indifferent" to Cruise doesn't matter. Rourke has always been his own worst enemy.

Wasn't Rourke a total douche on the set of The Expendables? I seem to recall something about it and that's why he wasn't asked back for the 2nd movie.

I also heard he was a nightmare on Immortals.

He was a douche on Expendables, because had won that Oscar for The Wrestler. He didn't come back for part II because he wanted more money and Stallone said no.

I think Immortals was the last good film he was in but that's due to Tarsem's talent as a director.

^ Sean Penn won the Oscar that year. Mickey was just nominated.

Tom Cruise doesn't seem to have done any plastic surgery to his face unlike Rourke, to look different in movies.

Sin City 2 was the only watchable movie of his, that's true but not the topic of the question he was answering.

It was not a great movie but Rourke was in Ashby (2015) which was a not a horrible movie.

Mickey would have won too if it didn’t come out after he was nominated that he was planning on having a wrestling match at wrestlemania that year.

Yeah, but Tom Cruise didn't have his face pounded to mush multiple times in the boxing ring.

Re: Mickey Rourke hasn't really done a whole lot with his comeback.

Rourke should have won the Oscar if Penn was not nominated that year for the Wrestler.

That role probably came from a real place and mirrored his own life.

I should have done my research. Had no idea he got surgery because of his facial injuries from boxing.
