Select an 80s Cartoon for Major Motion Picture

Re: Select an 80s Cartoon for Major Motion Picture
Thundercats went through multiple cinematic iterations and all ended up in production hell. The closest to come to fruition was a CGI animated feature which even had a demo reel. Visually, it looked right. Unfortunately, Lion-O was essentially Wiley Kat and there was some serious ADD with the camera work and overall rythm of the piece.

Here's an article about the abandoned CGI feature.
The now cancelled animated series was a far better template for a Thundercats movie. And it would be fantastic in live action with proper prosthetic work.

The more I think about it, the more surprised I am that there hasn't been a Jem movie. Do I think it would make the *best* movie out of the ones mentioned? Is it the one I would most like to see? No and no, but unlike all the others, it could be made without a large special effects budget. In fact, a Jem adaptation could be made rather cheaply, which is why I'm surprised it hasn't already been done.

I'm also surprised they haven't tried to make this one. I think there are photos online somewhere of Christina Aguilera with a look that is clearly inspired by Jem. Not that she's much of an actress , but if she has the look and voice, might as well cast her.

I'd rather have Ellie Goulding.

Live action versions of these would be great!

"Normal girl by day; secret identity rock star at night" has kinda been used by Hannah Montana.

True, but has one been done that's set in the 80s? That was something I guess I needed to clarify, the movie you select will be set in the 80s, and it has to not look dated or cheesy. (Of course the ones that are in another universe like Thundercats and Silverhawks aren't but they will be made with an 80s mindset.)

You mean without all the ugly teal and orange most movies and TV shows have today?! Count me in!

Re: Select an 80s Cartoon for Major Motion Picture
I was thinking that the only cartoons I want to see made into films were already made: He-Man and Transformers, and only the former turned out good. Not that the other cartoons weren't awesome but I just can't see them becoming awesome films.
But then someone mentioned Bionic Six and I think that could be made into a good movie.

For the poll choices, I went with MASK.
I never really cared for Thundercats though I know it has a lot of fans.
Don't think it ever had a cartoon but I was a big fan of the Starriors toy line. They came with a comic book so there's already a story line and that could be an interesting film property:

I went on eBay and someone was selling almost the entire like for like $60 bucks. I got it and they all sit proudly on my toy shelf in the basement
