That looks unbelievably awful. Why the hell is John Cusack acting like Nicolas Cage? Just awful. Couldn't even finish watching the trailer it was so bad.

Why is John Cusack still doing horror films lol. Didn't see the trailer, but since it's based on a great writer, I might have to go see it.

I thought it looked pretty good. Sort of reminds me of the Sherlock Holmes/Jack The Ripper combo movies. Suprised at how far out the release date is, looks more like something that goes straight to dvd with the trailer showing up just prior to street date.

I loved V for Vendetta (and Ninja Assassin was OK, but ultimately a disappointment) so I'll give McTeigue a chance.

That and if you go back and look at Cusack's filmography you'll notice he doesn't star in many movies that are poorly reviewed.

It looks watchable, even if the trailer makes me think it's a safe bet that
Spoiler:
Luke Evans is the killer.

The more movies McTeigue makes, the more it seems that the Wachowski's shadow directed V For Vendetta.

Fixed.

I loved V For Vendetta and Ninja Assassin, but this is a Relativity picture. The chances of this being a steaming pile of shit are high.

The fact that this is being released on April 27th indicates they have little faith. With the exception of Fast Five last year, that weekend is usually reserved one in which studios try to burn off their duds before the summer blockbuster season hits.

Also, John Cusack as Edgar Allan Poe is horrible casting. I like the guy, but this is the farthest thing from what he plays well it's amazing.

This movie looks awesome to me. I really cant wait to see it.

I dig Cusack but my dream casting for poe would have been : Jeffrey Combs!

Re: The Raven -- (D: James McTeigue S: Cusack, Gleeson, Eve, L. Evans) -- 3/9/2012

"The Raven", set in 1849, features Edgar Allan Poe, a writer and a poet finding it tough to make ends meet, though thoroughly a dastardly scroundrel with a fiery personality, and a credit history littered with unpaid bar tabs. John Cusack has some fun as Poe, and the film's plotline come to the fore as someone in Baltimore is staging murders similar to the ones that Poe wrote about in his stories, and the police find Poe to be of some use in anticipating the serial killer's next victim.

This film really didn't need to be rated R, though the script does toss in some salty language, and pushed for more gruesome displays of murders based on Poe's stories, but I guess the producers wanted to go as brutally and viscerally violent as Poe's stories lended themselves to be.

I give it 2.5 stars or a grade of C+-.

I thought it was a lot of fun and will be getting the Blu-ray. It's a combination of From Hell, Saw, and Sherlock Holmes. I dug it!

Pretty much exactly what I thought. I like the gothic style of Sherlock Holmes and From Hell and this movie fits with those 2. Obviously it's not as fun as Sherlock but it's better than From Hell in my opinion.

A few twists and turns and I always like watching mysteries unfold. I'd give it a solid B.

I think From Hell is a much better film, imo. Not taking away from The Raven at all; these two make for a great double header.
