Damn. I had forgotten Luke Wilson was still a working actor.

It’s amazing how these guys are a thing and then just disappear from quality projects

Stargirl is pretty good, and he was the lead in the Cameron Crowe Showtime show not too long ago. Judging by his IMDB he must just say "yes" a lot. Since he's a lead character, Stargirl is probably taking up 5 months of the year or so now.

I got a free rental from Row8 and I am watching Fortress. The acting on this is horrendous, especially Willis. Shannon Doherty plays a general. Chad Michael Murray plays a terrorist.

This is probably the longest amount of screen time Willis has had in this DTV classics. He's actually in most of the movie.

It's a public service to us. One of those times there could be a rose on the pile of shit. I watch 3-5 Nic Cages movies a year, most of them suck, but sometimes they don't.

To be clear, this hasn't happened yet with any of Bruce's DTV movies, right? Seems like the highest praise has been on the level of "it's OK."

Oh and Fortress ended on a cliffhanger. So there will be a sequel as mentioned before.

Just watched Fortress. Bad but also forgettable. I'm now convinced Bruce Willis was replaced by an animatronic robot and now is living the good life, collecting the residuals from these crap DTV films, on some Pacific island.

BTW, you can add Mel Gibson being part of these bad DTV movies. He was in Force of Nature (with Emile Hirsch and Kate Bosworth), Dangerous (w/ Famke Jansen and Tyrese Gibson) and probably sometime this year, Hot Seat (w/ Shannen Doherty and Kevin Dillon). However, and I can't speak for Dangerous since I haven't seen it, Gibson at least seemed like he was trying in Force of Nature.

I haven't seen those but at least he has some "real" movies an a regular basis, too. Fatman, The Professor and the Madman or Dragged across Concrete aren't big budget movies, but not bad DTV and in Boss Level he gave a nice over the top performance.

True.

God bless you, DJariya. For watching all those movies so we don't have to. Also I had no idea Willis was more or less "phoning it in" as opposed to someone like Cage, who puts in some work in regards to his DTV movie efforts.

Despite his awful track record in “films” these last few years, I think Willis could be well-cast in a TV series – which are all the rage these days anyway – albeit as part of an ensemble cast and definitely not the lead. And not some series that’s basically an extended version of this garbage, but something more original, like some kind of prestige limited series (or whatever they call those) made by producers/writers/directors who can utilize whatever strengths he has left at this point.

I doubt he would want to work that hard, and he doesn't seem particularly interested in taking direction at this point in his career. Even in the small handful of real films he had these last years the performance doesn't change.

His performances in Motherless Brooklyn (as a favor to Ed Norton), Glass, Once Upon a Time in Venice and Death Wish weren't THAT bad, although he wasn't all-in either.

I don't see him doing a TV show. They are way more work and you don't get a million bucks for one day of work. Perhaps someone like Tarantino or Wes Anderson could get a good performance out of him, in a supporting role, but even in the last Die Hard, he didn't give a crap.

He seemed asleep in Glass. When I watched Death Wish, I kept wishing that D'Onofrio had the main part. As you say, Motherless Brooklyn was a favor so he was a little more engaged, but his part isn't that big. OUATIV had other real name actors in it and was filmed in 2015; that's a long time ago in Bruce's filmography.

His performances in Glass and Death Wish weren't very good, maybe even bad, but at least he showed up. In his DTV movies he "works" for a day and his body double gets more stuff to do, these performances are an insult.

Good Bruce Willis. Bad Bruce Willis. I still like this scene.

Sounds like it could be fun. But we all know it'll be bland and forgettable.

From that trailer it doesn't look too bad. But of course, these low budget action movies are usually very forgettable.
