that would be great if they did it in a Spaceballs type fashion.
"HAHAHA we are indestructible!! Nobody can stop us this time"
"Hey Greg, did you close that exhaust port?"
"Oh shit!"

I don't have a problem with another "Death Star". I will have a problem if the finale is to blow it up again.

Oh, I'm sure the Resistance will take it out. We even see X-Wings approaching a trench in the trailer. From the poster, it looks like the weapon is in the side of the snow planet. While destroying the thing will obviously cause tremendous destruction, I doubt we'll be seeing the entire planet exploding with a ring around it... but ya never know.

Unfortunately... they've got to do something w/ it. Maybe they take it for themselves and disable it?
It would bother me if they do another blowing up of one. Not sure why we need a 3rd one.

It would be great if the opening of the film is them taking out the new Death Star.

Are there gonna be any actual battles in space in this movie? It seems all the ship action sequences take place within a planet's atmosphere. It looks like the shots of ships in space are just to showing them getting from one planet to another. I hope this isn't the case though.
It always seemed from the OT that X-Wings were used for battle in space which is why they had separate ships for surface battles on Hoth. Maybe the new X-Wings are better suited for near surface combat. Also I don't think they ever showed any TIE fighters within a planet's atmosphere previously. Someone whose read the specs for these ships, please set me straight...

I highly doubt the filmmakers care about the bs specs for these things. They'll fly where they need to. Even before these generation of SW... we've had x wings and tie fighters flying in atmospheric elements in other media. And considering how we've seen these things on planets to fly into space....I'm guessing that they'll be fine and dandy on the planet skies too.

I'm sure there will be some "star wars" in Star Wars, but quite frankly we've seen it all before.... what else can you do in the blackness of space. I'm much more intrigued by seeing the ships we all grew up loving fighting within the various terrains and atmospheres.

This shot alone makes it obvious that having battles in the atmosphere will be awesome.

True, but I think that was pretty high up in the atmosphere. How far was Cloud City from the surface? Or wasn't Bespin actually a gas giant with no surface? We haven't really seen TIEs flying close to the surface of a planet, except for Darth Maul's big ass TIE. I'm sure there are probably a lot of examples in the two animated series that I'm not familiar with.

Yeah, of course we saw the Falcon and X-Wings take off from a planet, but we never really saw them fighting or doing maneuvers near the surface. Why didn't they use X-Wings against the walkers on Hoth? It seems that the T-47 airspeeders ("snowspeeders") they had were better for that kind of battle.
