I don't really blame McCallum for how the prequels turned out, but it does indicate a new direction.

The part I liked about that article was that Derek Jacobi wants in. I hope he gets it.

Rick had the most power to directly alter the course of the prequels if he had learned one little word: "No".

Exactly. McCallum was a "yes" man through and through. Things are looking very promising with both him and Lucas stepping down.

Why choose? It is a trilogy. We can have all three plus give Uwe Boll the Epilogue.

You know what? Why not have Jee-woon Kim tackle one of the new Star Wars flicks? The Good, the Bad, the Weird had a great balance of action and humor, and was one of the most entertaining movies I've ever seen. He's doing the new Arnold movie in the English language, so I say that give him a shot.

....Horrible is one thing. It was an action film w/ Terminators. Sadly it wasn't much of a Terminator film. I'd rather have Terminator Salvation over T3.

Hell no, T3>Salvation any day. T3 wasn't amazing, but it wasn't blindingly stupid like Salvation was.

I think there was a typo there. I don't think he meant what he meant.

Finally, some sensible director choices.

After watching that Total Recall remake, I think Len Wiseman should stop making movies forever, burn any and all existent copies of them, and spend the rest of his life atoning by allowing fanboys to sniff his fingers.

I wondered what McCallum was doing when the news first hit, and I guess I missed the retirement announcement. Seems like there could have been a place for him in the new agreement, but he probably agreed it was time to move on.

Like I said, the man doesn't know how to say no. Disney just had to ask/tell him to retire.

British actor Jason Flemyng has made nine movies so far with producer-director Matthew Vaughn, including last year's X-Men: First Class where he played the villainous mutant Azazel. But in a new interview Flemyng may -- may -- have confirmed the recent rumors that Vaughn was being lined up to direct Star Wars: Episode VII.

Check out this interview from HeyUGuys (via The ) with Flemyng to see his reaction to the Star Wars questions. Skip forward to about the 1:11 mark:

I agree. T3 was a decent action movie, as Mostow atleast put in an interesting story that tied to the other 2 Terminator films. Salvation was just terrible, and I have yet to watch it again.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015, D: Unknown, S: Unknown)

Alan Horn says we should expect a director announcement soon.
Rumors have been flying lately that X-Men: First Class director Matthew Vaughn will helm Episode VII, and Horn demurred from confirming the buzz, though he set the timetable for an announcement on that front: "I would say you'll know soon. And it's got to come from Kathy Kennedy — we don't have the company yet!" Still, Horn said that fans should rest assured that Disney has the franchise's best interests at heart. "We take very seriously the obligation to make a very good movie. Kathy is a very experienced producer; George Lucas is the godfather of that franchise and very, very involved on a consulting basis, so we feel very confident."

Easily the best part of that making of doc. Everyone had a silent reaction of "Oh God No..." Im glad to see that even Lucas had the sense to realize he was fucked, but had no choice in finishing the movie.

No, George Lucas is probably the one man in Hollywood who could have started over (or at least made major changes) at this point. Yes, there was a schedule, but can you imagine the fanboy expectations for the finished product if he announced, "the movie isn't up to the standards our fans expect, so we're remaking it."
