Re: Favorite 60's Horror Film?
I went with Psycho because it's as KillerCannibal said, "just a perfect picture."
Night of the Living Dead is a very close second though.
As much love as I see Peeping Tom getting I guess I need to revisit that one. I didn't care for it too much the first time around.

Agreed. Night messed me up as an adult when I saw it for the first time only a few years ago or so. Just claustrophobic and creepy as fuck. Love that movie. Is it on blu? If not, why the fuck not???

Masque of the Red Death. If you haven't seen it, it's on Netflix Streaming. Rent it now. You'll be fucking mesmerized, and afterward you will touch yourself in an impure manner. Jane Asher is an unbelievable goddess and Vincent Price OWNS. Don't believe me? I'LL BREAK YOU WITH MY BARE HANDS.

Wow, this was a tough one.
Psycho, The Innocents, Repulsion, The Haunting, Night Of the Living Dead are all classics to me.
But I had to vote for Psycho. Hitchcock set a standard with that one and, with its success, changed the direction of the Horror Genre from mostly supernatural movies (ex. ghosts, Dracula, or Frankenstein) to much more believable "a regular guy who turns out to be a crazy killer" type movies.

The great thing about this list is that these are all really fine films that just happen to fit into the horror genre, even though most of them are wildly different from each other. Many of the filmmakers didn't even set out to make "horror" films. I think the '70s and '80s lists consist of films by filmmakers who were much more conscious of (and embraced) the genre trappings.
