Favorite 60's Horror Film?
Similar to the 70's poll. I've included some films that may not specifically fit into the horror genre, but are closely associated. Anyway, pick your favorite. If you choose "other" please specify.

Fairly easy one for me...Psycho all the way. While it's not my favorite Hitchcock, there is no denying its greatness. If it wasn't for NotLD, I wouldn't have even hesitated, but in the end Hitchcock always wins in my book!
Lots of other greats on that list though...Carnival of Souls would be my runner up. I have a huge soft spot for that film. Also gotta love The Haunting. Looking down the list there are a few I haven't seen and will have to fix that ASAP.

I concur with the
Psycho / Rosemary's Baby combo.
Psycho is well-crafted BUT.....
If you want to be creeped out, then Rosemary's Baby does a better job.

As has been mentioned, lots of great movies on the list but I had to vote Psycho.

Wow, I came in thinking Onibaba and was pleasantly surprised to see it on the last. I love this film, something so simple as some black and white shots of reeds blowing in the wind always manages to creep me out. I also love the isolation of the film, these two women living in a hut in the middle of nowhere.
Each scene of the younger woman running through the reeds at night puts me on edge; it's like when you're a kid and you need to get something out of the basement as quickly as possible because you hate being down there, it's dark anything could reach out and grab you.
Basically, the atmosphere really elevates the film for me, not to mention the themes of savagery that human beings are capable of when in survival-mode. Psycho is also a great movie, and I was also tempted to vote for Repulsion.

Psycho is a great movie (as is Rosemary's Baby), but Night of the Living Dead still gives me the creeps, more than any zombie movie since. So that one got my vote.
I know I'm in the minority, but I never found The Haunting to be all that creepy.

I went with Peeping Tom. Creepier than Psycho (IMO) and vastly underrated. Repulsion and Rosemary's Baby are both fantastic as well, of course, as is Night of the Living Dead.

Find it hard to pick between Psycho and Night of the Living Dead. Both in my favorite movies of all time. Both spawned never ending genres.
I'll go with Night which I don't think has been dulled by the march of time. Psycho today plays like a "fun" movie, while Night remains deeply unsettling and unpleasant.

I voted for Black Sabbath but that could change at any moment. There are tons of horror films from this decade that I love and ask me tomorrow and I'm sure it would be different.

Peeping Tom is fantastic but Night of the Living Dead scares me more. I don't find Psycho particularly scary but I still like it.

Re: Favorite 60's Horror Film?
The 60s are probably my favorite decade for horror, as the horror=gore mentality hadn't gotten hold of the genre yet.
My favorites:
Psycho
The Haunting
The Innocents
Kuroneko
Incubus
City of the Dead
Glad to see Masque of the Red Death on the list---those Poe/Corman movies were pretty good, and I think this was the best of the bunch.
Hammer didn't make too many masterpieces, but they made a lot of really good films in this era----Brides of Dracula, Plague of the Zombies, The Devil Rides Out, The Gorgon, Dracula-Prince of Darkness, Paranoiac, Scream of Fear, etc.
Bava's Black Sunday, Kill Baby Kill and Planet of the Vampires are up there for me, too.
