Fantastic movie. Watched it a lot in recent years. Its one of those movies that gives off such an eerie atmosphere. Wish more movies had this level of excellence.

I like Angel Heart. You could argue that then arrive doesn't entirely make sense, but as an atmospheric piece, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Seresin is an amazing DP.

Angel Heart is the bomb, yo. I call it horror-noir.

Re: The Expendables 3

I did end up finishing it. It got really fucking good from where I left off. That sex scene was crazy. The ending was appropriately fucked up.

I KIND of thought it could go that cuz of how much she said but wasn't sure.

Amazon has it on AIV, free with prime. I'd like to see what this looks like when it's clean. Had neat locales. It's just kind of dull looking from what Amazon showed.

Also Rourke was really good in this. This was my first young Rourke flick. Need to catch Johnny Handsome at some point.

I hope Rourke starts getting good roles again, because he is an incredible actor. Even with his small role in Body Heat he nearly stole the show.

He may be a diva in real life, but I still love me some Mickey Rourke. Any chance he can make a third comeback?

Absolute Bullshit. I guess no one learned their lesson from Live Free or Die Hard. They are going to alienate the audience from the first two films, then everyone who is younger wont care because they never grew up in 80s.

Given how much LFODH made, they probably did indeed learn a lesson.

Re: The Expendables 3

It sucked and it was a terrible Die Hard movie. The fifth one was a much better movie. I wont be seeing EX3.

Do you refuse to see any action movie that's PG-13?

A few F bombs and some extra blood IMO aren't going to make a world of difference. There are plenty of solid PG-13 action movies out there.

Not even close.

The only reason people have a problem with Live Free or Die Hard IS because of its rating. If it had been released to theaters in its R-rated form (which only has a couple of more f-bombs and some more blood) then the consensus would be its the second best in the series.

Re: The Expendables 3

It irks me a bit for the rating change but I've seen a lot of good action in PG-13 films.

A rating doesn't bring quality. Saying that... Depending on how bombastic the action goes... Maybe a PG-13 is fine. Seems like there is a lot more practical stuff going on here. Which is very exciting.

Sly mentioned of going for that rating. Dunno if an unrated cut could give us the R we would want but I dunno. Either way... I'm happy to see new blood in the direction of the film. Cuz West is mediocre and Sky did ok but he still didn't rock it.

Ehhhhhhh.... I dunno. The editing for the unrated was pretty bad.

Then throw in a couple of F-bombs in the theatrical cut and rate it R instead. It doesn't matter, people dismiss LFoDH as mediocre because of its MPAA rating. It has the feel, action and wit of the three movies that precede it.

A Good Day to Die Hard was an abortion. I never "pretend" movies don't exist, but after being as disappointed as I was leaving the theater and even more disappointed in that crappy unrated cut, I can't associate it with the rest of the franchise.

Live Free or Die Hard would have made a better Mercury Rising sequel. I like to imagine Justin Long is the autistic kid all grown up.

That said, it is still miles above A Good Day to Die Hard. Holy fuck, that movie is awful.

Yep I agree. Live Free or Die Hard isn't that bad at all and gets shit mostly because of the PG-13 rating. That aside I'd actually say it's one of the more solid entries in the series really.

Add me to the small chorus that enjoys Live Free or Die Hard. I liked A Good Day To Die Hard as an action movie but it is a terrible Die Hard movie.

Yes I cAn enjoy a PG13 action movie, and there are plenty of them out there that are good. LFODH could have been good, but the terrible dubbing over dialogue, Timothy Olyphant was a bad villian, and Justin Long ruined the movie for me. I wont be watch EX3 because it should be rated R, period, this franchise was created based on the actions movies of the 80s, and its dumbing itself down to the watered down shit that fills all the multiplexs today.

A Good Day to Die Hard makes Live Free or Die Hard look like Die Hard with a Vengeance!
