If only the third's plotting and logic were just a bit tighter.

And it's not the first time he's been in a Christopher Nolan movie, either!

The film does improve on repeat viewings but I still feel it's the lesser of the three (Batman Begins is still my favorite).

I like how the pit prison had electricity for the TV so Bruce could watch Gotham burn.

The opening of Rises is a flashback to that Harvey Dent memorial from the previous film. They just recreated it since Gordon's lines were different. The image there is from The Dark Knight, not Rises.

I finally got to watch the entire trilogy back to back to back this weekend. I've been a pretty big defender of DKR, but it shouldn't be viewed right after the first two because they amplify the weaknesses of the film. For the most part, the movie holds up fine, but there are a few parts that make me cringe a little more every time I see them:
1. Entire police force in sewers
2. Talia's death scene
3. Police rushing thugs with guns
4. The knee and cane bit was unnecessary and made the rest of the action hard to believe
5. The opening bit on the plane is contrived and overly complex, especially considering that they already have the scientist
This stuff shouldn't feel any dumber than the water vaporizer plot in Batman Begins, but it absolutely does feel dumber.
Still love the trilogy though.

Thinking about what would have made the whole "Death Wish" angle work, and I think instead of making Bruce a creepy shut-in, they should have had him engaging in all kinds of risky hobbies like car racing or MMA.
I'm thinking about the car racing scene in Dark Knight Returns where Bruce says "This would be a good death, but not good enough", where a lecture from Alfred would fit a little better. It also wouldn't have affected the believability of every fight scene after it.
Of course it was already done in Iron Man 2...

I still want to know what happened after the Joker threw Rachel out the window and Batman jumps to save her in TDK. The scene just fades to the next day. What happened between then? Did the Joker just leave by helicopter on the roof, did he come down stairs and Batman called him a cab? I mean there is a vicious murderer up stairs with hostages still.

The Joker later stated (in the interrogation scene) that he thought Dent was Batman at that time, due to throwing himself after Rachel in such a manner. Since his objective was to get Harvey Dent, and in his mind, Dent was Batman, he had no further reason to be there (and his henchmen had been taken out).

Which follows Joker after Batman jumped out the window.

There's something that's been bugging me since I saw the movie weeks ago. They call Batman Begins/The Dark Knight/The Dark Knight Rises a "trilogy" and Nolan and Bale say they're done. Then what's with the last scene where
It just seems very weird to me to include that scene in a film that's supposed to "end it."

The point is to show that anyone with enough conviction could in theory be Batman, and that the symbol is greater than the man under the mask.
It also does allow WB to make another movie in this universe if they want to, but I don't think they will.
