They didn't directly mandate it. Comic sales were pretty bad, and WB's board of directors basically told DC that they had to improve the sales or else they might be shut down. So DC did the drastic with a reboot. A lot of the New 52 reeks of being desperate because it actually was desperate.

Another problem with DC is that people like Bob Harras, Jim Lee, and to a lesser extent Rob Liefeld are in charge. These are the guys that nearly ruined Marvel in the 90s, and led to Marvel nearly going bankrupt. Now they're pulling the same shit at DC.

Rob Liefeld to a much lesser extent. In that he was a freelancer who is currently doing no work for them.

The blame should fall on Dan DiDio who became DC's Executive Editor in 2004 then Co-Publisher (with Jim Lee) in 2010. He has a background in television and runs DC Comics like a TV production with last minute editorial changes and second-thought decisions. He hired editors who follow his method of changing approved stories and art last minute. The boulder starts downhill there.

Having Bob Harras as EIC doesn't help! As taffer mentioned above, Marvel was nearly ruined with him at the helm.

Tho Geoff Johns is CCO at DC, it really doesn't feel like he's doing too much on the creative end outside of writing. Jim Lee drove the boat on the look of the New52.

That's what I thought but couldn't reason as to why he was with Wright. What's the context of the picture? He's Ant-Man or what?

They probably met up for something, possibly Ant-Man, and teased it with a photo. I wouldn't read too much into it yet, Simon Pegg posted some pictures of himself pointing at Ant-Man, then when everyone freaked out he did the same with Batman and a bunch of other characters.

I think JGL is a better actor, but he is kind of short for the role. I would be fine with either, though.

I feel like JGL can be great at any role, but might look a little young even at 32 to pull off the genius scientist thing. Rudd is intriguing to me.

JGL should be in everything. He's so dreamy.

JGL all the way. Paul Rudd is uninteresting, boring, never liked him in anything.

Rudd plays the same guy in every movie. Not much range. I'd rather have JGL.

Is it that he has no range or that the characters he plays all fall in the same group. Which is why I think Rudd will do this, to break that perception that all Paul can do is play the male lead in a rom com.

I hear he is a talented broadway guy.

Rudd would be a great choice, IMHO. His work as Tayne was groundbreaking.

Paul Rudd will kill it as Pym.
