Edgar Wright will direct from a script he co-wrote with Joe Cornish.
Biochemist Dr. Hank Pym uses his latest discovery, a group of subatomic particles, to create a size-altering formula. Though his first self-test goes awry, he develops an instrument that helps him communicate with and control insects.

Test footage was screened at Comic Con earlier;

Spoiler:
The footage begins in a long, Matrix style hallway with two Matrix style agents. The camera moves down the hall, through a grate, and we see a tiny man standing behind the grate: Ant-Man. He jumps through and starts running at them. Of course, they don’t see him. He then pops up into real size, they start shooting, he gets small again, jumps, runs down the shaft of the gun, jumps up and punches the guy in the face, shaking the face in slow motion. With that guy done, Ant-Man gets big again, flips the other agent over….okay, honestly by this point I was kind of freaking out and it gets fuzzy. I do know that Ant-Man takes care of business, is about to jump through another grate when the elevator pings, and he gets on it.

Maybe. Maybe not.

Marvel's current release schedule looks like the following:

Iron Man 3: May 3rd, 2013.
Thor: The Dark World: November 8th, 2013.
Captain America: The Winter Solder: April 4th, 2014.
Guardians Of The Galaxy: August 1st, 2014.

Everyone is anticipating Guardians Of The Galaxy will be the film that leads into the events of The Avengers 2 on May 1st, 2015 (depending if Marvel hits that rumored release date). If that's the case, we may not see Ant Man until after that date. Who knows, we may see it sooner as there were also rumblings Marvel wants to produce three films a year rather than two. So who knows how the next few months or year might play out.

Edgar Wright at Comic Con: “It is action-packed! Ant-Man will kick your ass one inch at a time.”

Change one word and you have the tagline for the inevitable porn parody.

I'm in. Doesn't matter if it's Ant Man or a reboot of Weekend at Bernie's, this sentence is all I need to know.

I wonder if Wright will be using any CGI for this film.

Is Guardians of the Galaxy going to be connected with the Avenger movie universe. I hope not. A talking racoon would be corny and ruin it.

other than supplying some backstory on Thanos, I can't see them tying in an ANIMATED feature in with the Avengers. What would be next, the Invincibles?

Was Guardians confirmed as animated? I didn't see that anywhere.

EDIT: I found a link to a cinemablend article that called it an animated film in the headline google found, but when you click thru to the article, there is a correction that says they prevoiusly listed it as animated and it is not. Pretty sure this is live action and a canon part of the the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Yes it is, I'm guessing the Avengers movie will come out of this travesty just fine.

It is not going to be animated (nothing I have seen has stated that)

I can't believe they are wasting money on this movie. Don't get me wrong, for fans of the character/comic I am happy they will get a big screen adaption but I just don't get why the studio is doing this.

The character is awful with the lamest superpower aside from Aquaman. I have never liked any "shrinking" characters at all, I just find it lame.

YMMV of course but there are many other characters I would rather see than Ant Man. He would be near the bottom for me personally.

I hope to be proven very wrong but the movie will have to be spectacular to overcome the lameness of the character.

Thats strange, because most marvel fans love Ant-Man, and he is talked about as the next member of the Avengers. I'm guessing they are doing his solo film so they can throw him into the Avengers

I know, I just can’t get over the power. To me I like my superheroes primarily based on their power or coolness and if I would want it. Kinda living vicariously through them. Because I wouldn't want his power, I really don’t care about the character at all. Same thing with Cyclops from the X-Men.

Do Marvel fans really love Ant-Man though? I don't think they do, for the most part. I'm a huge Marvel fan, and I could give a rat's ass about Pym/Ant-Man/Giant-Man/Goliath/Yellowjacket/Wasp. People that want him in Avengers mainly want him because he was part of the original lineup, and he's always been around the Avengers (mainly because nobody cares enough about him to support a solo series).
