Took me a confused second to figure out that while you saw Ted, they saw Magic Mike (that is, unless a middle-aged woman was turned on by a talking teddy bear).

Considering how many teenagers I saw in my screening of TED, I'm wondering how many kids bought tickets for BRAVE and snuck in? I'm sure the same is true of teenage girls and MAGIC MIKE.

Maybe that's because it's easy to track how many women see certain movies. I just read that women made up 73% of the audience. Maybe another 10% were gay men but nobody would know unless every guy in the audience was asked whether he was gay or straight. It's a lot easier to just count all the women in the audience.

Well to be honest, the types of men that women like to watch strip don't necessarily match the types of men that gay men like to watch strip. ie Shaved-chested-chippendale-pretty boys vs rugged-hairy-tattooed-grisly men.

So just to be sure...... you are saying that gay men prefer rugged-hairy-tattooed-grisly men over Shaved-chested-chippendale-pretty boys?

Magic Mike made more in its opening weekend than Rock of Ages has done in its entire run thus far.
It cost less than a tenth as much to make.

I haven't seen Magic Mike, but RoA deserves to rot in its own flaming crapulence for eternity.
It cost less than a tenth as much to make.

A side not: I am siiick of seeing the trailer for Savages. But everybody knows it won't do well right? I've heard zero buzz, the box office is cluttered and Spider-Man comes out tonight. Poor Taylor Kitsch... again...

^Not sick of seeing the trailer just don't think they are doing a good job of marketing it. From the trailers I have no f'n idea what it is about other than Blake Lively is hot. Probably won't open to more than $10 million or so.

I can't wait for Savages personally, looks like one of the better movies coming out this summer.

I hear the story is pretty good, it's violent as hell, it's old school Stone in a lot of ways and it is set in the semi-real world. Those are selling points for me and seemingly a bit rare during the summer (superhero flicks (Avengers, Batman, Spider-man), high concept movies (Ted, Dark Shadows, Abraham Lincoln VH), Sci-fi/Fantasy (Prometheus, Snow White, MIB 3, Battleship, Hunger Games), etc; ) it's kind of nice to see a good old fashioned hard R-rated movie that has some roots in reality, I just hope it's better than Safe House.
