Also, this is a general question to all: Has the general public consensus on Prometheus gotten more positive with time? I remember when it first came out (and a few years afterwards), it was popular in comments sections and among my coworkers to dunk on the stupidity of the characters. I always liked the film, but I understand the complaint about the scientists taking off their helmets. Honestly, I hadn't even thought about that until someone pointed it out to me. Did people begin to believe that the other aspects of the film outweighed poor choices by the characters? I know critics at the time felt that it was fairly solid, at least.
Visually I think it looks great and fits in the Alien world they built. Story-wise it sucks. The space jockey was some lame engineer, the ending with that horrible squid monster sucked. That movie was a huge letdown.

Like with Alien Covenant I haven’t seen this in a while. I remember at the time I liked it more than many here, but had some problems with it. I’ve actually been in the mood to revisit all the Alien films. Might go through them at some point.

^ I did that last year. It was a good time and just exemplifies how terrible the AVP flicks really are.

It's just that the AvP movies we've gotten so far have sucked.
Oh yeah, I don't really care about them crossing over, neither is really a sacred cow for me. I just group those crossovers more into the "Freddy vs. Jason/Val Helsing, kind of a horror movie, but really an action movie" pile of the early 2000s.

I haven’t seen it in a while, but I don’t mind the first AVP movie. Definitely could have been better though. The sequel is a letdown for sure.

I agree. I loved the movie when I saw it, despite the "dumb" things some of the characters do in the film. (I watched it at home in 3D.) However, if you watch the deleted scenes which are included on the Blu ray, the dumb things that the dumb characters do aren't very dumb anymore. Their motivations and the way they act make logical sense.

I always felt those deleted scenes should have been in the movie as it greatly strengthens an already strong movie.

I just saw the new "Dune" trailer and if the "Alien" series needs to continue at all, Denis Villeneuve needs to get involve ASAP. Preferably behind the camera. And I would love for him to do a proper sequel to "Prometheus". Finishing what Ripley Scott fucked up royally.
