Re: A Good Day To Die Hard
Aside from the crappy photography, another thing I'm getting a bit tired of is the video-gamish jumping through CGI glass while the camera follows you down thing. Off the top of my head I can't remember where else I've seen this but it feels like I've seen it a million times. And it never looks good.
On the other hand, the exploding cars bit was cool and the rapidly flipping humvee(?) was a great shot. |

They also did it in The Raid.

I think it looks awesome.

Re: A Good Day To Die Hard
Die Hard. In Imax. Neat.
Die Hard 1-3 had a classical way about them. Comparing Die Hard 4 to Die Hard 1-3 is like comparing Batman and Robin to The Dark Knight. I have high hopes that this will be a fun Die Hard movie. But keeping it in check. I was rabid about seeing Die Hard 4 and was let down. Life is just so rough sometimes, you know? |
Re: A Good Day To Die Hard
Die Hard 2 is way more Batman and Robin than Die Hard 4.

Hooey!

Re: A Good Day To Die Hard
Looks awesome. I'm there opening weekend.
For those who don't know Jai Courtney who plays McClane's son is in Jack Reacher. |

"Ill be back" at least makes some sort of sense in the context of Arnold's movies. In The Running Man when he says it to Killian and he responds with "Only in a rerun..." it still works.
The "yippie-ki-yay" thing was a random snarky retort McClane made while he was sneaking through the Nakatomi hallways when Gruber said he was probably a nobody raised on cowboy movies, then Gruber fired it back at him at the final scene. Yes it's the movie's big catchphrase but in the context of what's actually happening it points out how much this series struggles to make plausible sequels. I'm guessing that's the set up to McClane's latest use of "Yippee ki yay" |

Die Hard 4 is more like Batman Forever.

Re: A Good Day To Die Hard
I wish they'd gone back to McClane going solo, making it smaller in scale like the first. This looks like it might rival the last one as the worst of the series. It would appear we're getting another lackluster villain, and the action is just as absurd as everything else they make today. I have little hope.

The new trailer has a line from one of the Russian baddies where he says, "Do you know what I hate about Americans? Everything...especially cowboys."

Re: A Good Day To Die Hard
Looks on par with the last one, which I enjoyed as an action flick though like most I wish they'd have tried to make it feel more like 'Die Hard'. There's really no reason to think this will be any different/better... still looking forward to it though.

It looks like it might be early in the movie, so maybe not.

With John McClane, the terrorists are in the wrong place at the wrong time. The motherfucking wrongest. |
Re: A Good Day To Die Hard
So if this gets a PG-13 everyone here will look down on it and assume it's shit?

Hopefully his son is a cop who's somehow involved in stopping some plot in Russia, and John just happens to be there when shit hits the fan just because he's visiting his son. This way McLane's involvement isn't 100% coincidental.

I like how the burning helicopter at the end is like a homage to the burning FBI helicopter falling down the side of Nakatomi towers.
Wonder if makes a quip about it?! |

You don't like the reason this whole series exists?
This new one seems to be a little more plausible - where his involvement is only due to visiting his son who is working undercover on a plot. |
Re: A Good Day To Die Hard
But you stated the first film aswell. Surely its only a co-incidence after that?
I will agree with you that film 2 and 4 could be pushing it but the only real differnce between 1 and 2 is the setting. What if the first film was the wife on a plane going to LA for her job and terrorists happen and the second film was terrorists taking over the building she worked in. |
