Mr. Rodriguez should take pointers from Black Dynamite which although a comedy, gets the grindhouse atmosphere much better that Machete.

I still don't see that message. It's tongue in cheek. If you're in Texas it's easy to get. And if you're Mexican it's even more hilarious. I doubt that there was an ounce of seriousness with the premise of Machete. Do you think Mexicans need to rise up and not do your lawn? Maybe if you're white you're offended by the fake commentary but there is nothing in the film that is trying to get people political.

IMO Black Dynamite is tongue in cheek with it's message on how the government conspires to keep the black community down by shrinking their members with malt liquor, not Machete. It's not like I am anti-immigration but when you are trying to do a grindhouse type flick the message should not be so obvious as people making speeches. Let the ass kicking do the talking.

And that of course is my opinion.

Didn't care for the first at all. Thought Hobo was decent the first time I watched it; not so much on a second viewing. A lot of it made me feel dirty.

It's very tongue in cheek. Yes, if you're Mexican then you will get all of the inside gags. If you're white then you will most likely not like it, because you can't identify or find the Mexican humor funny.

I remember when some of the right wing groups got all upset when the whole "We didn't cross the border, the border crossed us" line was shown. I guess they didn't know their history, but that's actually true.

If you feel dirty with that please, please don't wear a Michael Myers costume.

No way, I don't want to become possessed by the soul of a killer. The movements, the breathing...

What of the deplorable thoughts? Why does everyone ignore the dangers of those deplorable thoughts that mask puts in you? Fucking William Shatner!

But it was his mask that caused all of this. If there was no William Shatner there would be no iconic Michael Myers mask.

See, being a fan of Black cinema from the 70's at an early age, why would I find this the least bit funny? It's a straight rip of Dolemite, who played it straight, which made his acting funny as hell. And, if your gonna do a spoof of that genre, I prefer Spade, Slade, Hammer, and Slammer (Ode to BDP). Black Dynamite. I just chalk it up as one of those things I don't get, like new hip hop. Sampling off songs, which were samples, and not understanding the history/culture.

I am going to assume this movie will be like his/Tarantino's other "grindhouse" stuff. Great cast, great music, great trailers, great fake trailers, great production, great posters, great promotion...poor movie.

I hope that maybe he gets it right this time.

Well Machete was saddled with having to match a fake trailer that was never intended to be anything other than a fake trailer. This one seems to be it's one thing and not tethered by a fake trailer. So it does stand a better shot at actually being good.
