At least Bridesmaids didn't get nominated for anything. Also, Jonah Hill wtf?
I'm surprised about ToL, as much as I disliked the film I'm happy it was nominated. Didn't know that was Oldman's first nomination. Crazy.

Worst snubs were Michael Fassbender for "Shame" and Shailene Woodley for "The Descendants." They were basically shoe-ins for their respective acting categories.

I thought Pitt was really good in both movies, so I don't mind that nom. But yea, Jonah Hill stole a nom from a more deserving performance

Oh yea, still gotta seeTake Shelter and Marth Marcy May Marlene too. Heard great things about all 4 of those performances. Some movies just seem too cool for the academy I guess (like Drive)

Best Picture belongs to Drive; end of story.
But since that's not happening (no nomination), The Artist and The Tree of Life are suitable replacements (my vote is for the latter). Glad Pixar finally got shafted (they need to smarten up a bit, but given the money they made off of merchandise for Cars 2, that's not going to happen). No love for Source Code or The Adjustment Bureau, which were very under-appreciated as well (editing or SFX at least)
Oh, and the "writing" nomination for Bridesmaids must be a joke. It was a pretty funny film, but absolutely didn't deserve that one.

Seriously, if that is what your inferring you clearly have no knowledge of the history of cinema and you should perhaps just go off and start reading up on that.
The Academy Awards are sometimes on the ball, sometimes they are not. There has been a substantial amount of great films that were overlooked, so getting any misplaced joy over it not being nominated seems completely retarded.
I personally don't need a film to be recognized with awards to love it. It's nice to see it occur but it has no bearing on my thought process.
Anymore, of all the awards I would say I pay most attention to Cannes, and even then it doesn't mean That much.

Both 1000 times the actor Hill is. Sorry, I can't get on board any train that thinks Roberts and Bullock are on the low level of Hill. That's crazy talk.

You've GOT to be fucking kidding me!
Bridesmaids should have received ZERO noms. Women can be funny; we get it. The film was an overly-long mid-grade comedy.
No Albert Brooks for Drive, but Jonah Hill? Fuck you.
War Horse for BEST PICTURE? While I didn't see it, neither that nor Extremely Loud looked any good, and certainly not worthy of a top nom like that.
Honestly, I don't care who wins anything this year. I'd love to see Malik clean up, but we all know that isn't going to happen. I'm completely disinterested in just about every category this time around, and that kinda sucks.

He was decent. I would've taken Brooks, Andy Serkis or even Alan Rickman over him. People are going to look back years from now and just laugh, "What the fuck were they/we thinking??!!". Like they do with Rosie Perez.

I agree completely about Albert Brooks. That's a shame on The Academy. I was rooting for Andy Serkis too.
I guess it was pretty obvious The Help would be nominated. It wasn't a very tight film though IMO. Kinda rambling.
