Indeed. I liked the first one, hated the second, thought the third was mediocre but inoffensive, and the fourth sucked (not as bad as the second though).

The trailer looks ok, but I'm burnt out on these. Catch it on instant watch unless it gets great reviews I guess.

And Milla Jovovich is still damn hot. Seeing Chaplin not long ago also showed me that there isn't much hotter than teenage Milla.

I enjoyed the first. Was let down by the second, though I liked the cast. Enjoyed the Road Warrior-esque third movie. And had a lot of fun with the over-the-top fourth (despite the horrid acting from the guy playing Wesker).

Like even-numbered Star Trek movies ... odd-numbered Resident Evil movies seem to work.

That trailer seemed to rehash the settings of each movie (and The Thing). It will be interesting to see how it works. I'll admit I'm a little lost at the progression ... the timeline is practically non-existant. We started in essentially the real modern-day world and within four movies moved hundreds of years into the future. Admittedly, I haven't played the games beyond the original, but did they move away from zombies and into monsters as well?

Looking forward to this :) I actually LOVED 2,and 4 wasnt great but I still liked it.
My ranking so far...
1.Apocalypse
2.Extinction
3.The Original
4.Afterlife

Oh and they are already talking about a sixth one, according to Anderson, and he said that it would be "the final chapter of the saga".

Interested in seeing how the dead characters return in the story. And hoping they explain the apparent MIA Ali Larter.

Ali Larter and Wentworth Miller are said to have been captured after the ending of the fourth. They'll be back for the sixth.

WTF? Did no one else notice the usage of Daft Punk's Tron Legacy theme in the trailer?

I love how the TL soundtrack is making the rounds in every fifth commercial on TV and other movie trailers now.

Well using memorable score samples from one movie to promote different movies is nothing new.

This is true. Several weeks ago there was a short piece in Entertainment Weekly on the longevity of the score to The Life of David Gale, and how sections from the score have been used multiple times in trailers and TV spots.

Solid Snake 01-25-12 09:27 AM

Re: Resident Evil: Retribution

And what would that score be? I can't say I remember it.

Re: Resident Evil: Retribution

The Life of David Gale - "Almost Martyrs" (recently heard in trailer to The Artist)

<iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/-ZYMUi3rVfI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

According to Wikipedia, the score has been used in the trailers for World Trade Center, Munich, In the Valley of Elah, Milk, and most recently, The Artist and The Iron Lady. But also in regular films such as The Dark Knight and I am Legend.

Think they're trying to cash in on the Selene look from Underworld here?

Solid Snake 06-14-12 04:57 PM

Re: Resident Evil: Retribution

No. That look was done before Selene. It's just a general look that's popular.

Looks like a good time. Hopefully we get some closure with this one (or just less ambiguity). I'm going to sprain my eyeballs if I'm forced to roll my eyes any harder that I did during the RE:4 ending.

Given that Chris, Clair, and K-Mart are confirmed MIA, I wouldn't be surprised if this ends on a cliffhanger where Alice is searching for them.

That Jill versus Alice fight looks good.

Li Bingbing looks so damn sexy as Ada.

So are we gonna get a 3D Milla twat shot?

I admit..every time I see her naked in a movie nowadays...i expect a twat shot..just cuz it's tradition.

How is Ada's outfit even tactically functional? Nevermind.

i never understood why she always wore that aside from being the functionality of being sexy.

Its like Catwoman wearing heels to a fight. Looks cool, but makes no sense.

These movies are just fun. This one looks very big in scale, which is awesome. The only one I was indifferent about was 2, so I'm game for this.

Solid Snake 07-07-12 12:17 PM

Re: Resident Evil: Retribution

yeah, 2 was horrid. i never wanted to leave a theater so bad...until Ultraviolet..and I still stayed cuz I was hoping the guy from Equilibrium could give something cool at the end. Nope. *sigh*

Yeah, never saw the previous one but this one seems fun. RE3 was alright..barely captured my attention. This one looks awesome though. Awesome in a..."let's just have fun" kind of way.

Although I enjoyed the last one, I've never forgiven it for setting up a Milla nude shower scene in 3D and not delivering.

That was pissing me off all throughout Resident Evil 4. Loved the game but her outfit's impracticality was grating on my nerves. Of all the stupid shit in that game, that's what I couldn't let slide.

I wish they would have used her Resident Evil 6 outfit.

Are they digitally de-aging her. I seem to remember a lot of bitching about how old she looked in the last RE movie.

she had a good outfit in for in the Ada Wong Side mission thing. I liked that a lot actually.

I thought the complaints were that they obviously applied filters to her face in the last flick. Unnecesarrily since she's still gorgeous.

Why So Blu? 07-07-12 02:34 PM

Not in the last one. They did the filtering thing in part 3.

Oh, okay. I misremembered then. The filtering sort of came and went, right?

I really need to revisit the previous four (even the horrid second one cos Jill Valentine was at least good eye candy).

Re: Resident Evil: Retribution

Yeah, to Milla. It was so obvious. I have no idea why, because 1 and 2 were left alone.
