MoviePass... would it work for you? [UPDATE: THE DEAD SHALL RISE]

re: MoviePass... would it work for you? [UPDATE: THE DEAD SHALL RISE]
I'm waiting for my card to arrive, but I noticed I have a Goodrich theater near the hotel I'm in and they do e-tickets. I haven't been to the theater yet to try, but I clicked on a movie in the app just to see what happens and it shows a 7 digit confirmation code. Is it supposed to generate a bar code to scan, or do I just go to the box office and say I have a code? Will they have any idea what I'm talking about?

It purchased a ticket for you. You're supposed to go to the theater and type in the confirmation number on the kiosk (or provide it at the box office) and your ticket will print.

Okay, thanks. I had the pass for 2 years but never dealt with e-tickets.

They contradict themselves about being able to see a movie more than once:

On their Twitter they have both posted that you CAN and you CAN'T watch a movie more than once, and when asked for clarification, stop responding.

^ Nice! I got my order in on the first day, after the first website crash but before the second crash. So hopefully mine arrives tomorrow.

Is it true you can finally see the same movie more than once? I know before this was not the case, but on Twitter a user asked Movie Pass and they replied that you can.

I accidentally created an eticket for The Hitman's Bodyguard while messing with the app a couple days ago, but I tried to create one today again to actually see the movie but it wouldn't let me. It just says "You've seen this movie", so it looks like you can't.

I just checked my app and there's now a card on my account even though I haven't received it yet. The good news is that it shows ALL of my theatres now, not just the ones that do eTicketing. I still can't get a ticket for any of them, since I'd need the card to actually pay... but yeah...
And

- Over 150,000 subscribers (up from about 20,000)
- "Outstanding" attendance reported by two theater chains
- ^ one says 4137 last week (up from 206)
- ^ another says 1795 (up from 203)
- AMC still wants to deny MP subscribers, but they can't unless they deny MasterCard transactions outright
I'm guessing Studio Movie Grill is the first once, since they seem to be one of only a tiny group of chains that do eTicketing through the MoviePass app.
Interesting stuff. I saw elsewhere that some theaters are putting up signs saying they do not accept MoviePass, even though they are listed on the app, but agian, if these theaters take MasterCard, then they can't officially opt out of MP. If you push it, it sounds like they have to comply.
150,000 subscribers doesn't actually sound like a lot, but as the word-of-mouth gets out there, that number should climb up.

Where did you hear that theaters are putting up signs? I see articles about AMC blocking them from purchasing e tickets in Denver and Boston, but most locales don't have an option for etickets for AMC anyway.

Hmm. Looks like it was just one theater. I don't want to link to the forum directly, but someone said (paraphrasing) they were at a theater and there was a sign that said MoviePass was not accepted. The theater's kiosks also just happened to be out of order, so they would have had to get their ticket from a human. That person didn't follow through to see if they still got denied in person, though.
Oh, and it was an independent theater; not a chain. This is all despite the theater being listed in the MoviePass app.
So just one instance that I'm aware of this happening. Hopefully it's not a trend.

Has anyone tried using Moviepass at an AMC theater yet? or have you not received your card yet?
Just wondering what the reaction is or if they turn you down or not?

I've used MoviePass many times at AMC, though not since the new pricing model. I normally use the kiosk though, so I don't expect anything to change

I didn't get the email. Maybe it's because my card is already on the way...
Either way, with this storm coming, I won't be seeing anything until late next week anyway... If I'm lucky.
