The whole time Kal'El was in transit from Krypton and during his stay at the fortress after leaving Smallville. He was being tutored by the crystals his Father put in the ship.

Maybe that's what he put on his resume:

EDUCATION: Privately tutored by my, uh, buddy Superman's space crystals. I'M NOT SUPERMAN!

Re: Superman: The Man of Steel (D: Snyder)

Superman was being taught the Theory of Relativity and about Chinese civilization while he was still a baby coming to earth. Jor-El was the very definition of Tiger Mom (Dad). He didn't need a four year degree.

The twelve year "travel through time and space" in SUPERMAN always bugged me. That's a long and inconsiderate amount of time to be away from your elderly mother who probably has had no communication with her son since he headed "north." (And people complain about him leaving earth for five years in SUPERMAN RETURNS!)

Ben Hubbard. And, according to the deleted scenes for Superman Returns, he took good care of Ma' Kent.

Re: Superman: The Man of Steel (D: Snyder)

I always thought the then unseen Ben Hubbard from SUPERMAN would be a guy around Clark's age. I didn't know it was going to be one elderly person looking after another.

Seeing these threads make me realize how much better the SUPERMAN movies were than anything in the comics. With only a handful of exceptions, most of DC stories up until the mid-1980's were miserably inept.

Re: Superman: The Man of Steel (D: Snyder)

There will be no "Kneel before Zod!"
General Zod’s Famous Catchphrase WON’T Be In ‘Man of Steel’

This is geek minutiae to the max, but in the big picture world of Superman, this next bit of news actually matters:

“KNEEL BEFORE ZOD!” is a geek mating call, part of the pop culture lexicon — a line of dialogue spoken by baddie General Zod in 1980′s Superman II.

And it’s been pretty much verified that the line IS NOT in the upcoming Man of Steel.

Actor Michael Shannon, who plays General Zod in Zack Snyder’s film, appeared on Vh1′s Big Morning Buzz Live, and spilled the beans.

When the annoying host asked Shannon to give his version of “KNEEL BEFORE ZOD!”, in a painfully awkward moment he refused to do it.

Why? Because he admitted that the line isn’t even in the movie.

Watch the interview for yourself (if you can survive the dreadful host and her faux-peppiness juxtaposed against Shannon’s state of pure discomfort):

Did anyone think they would include that line by Zod? WB is doing everything possible to make sure people realize this is not Donner's Superman. It wouldn't surprise me if we don't see a single nod to prior Superman films.

The line has been said by Zod in every incarnation since Superman II. In the Superman cartoon & both times he was on Smallville worked the line in.

‘Man of Steel’ To Soar Into Theaters Next Summer In 3D

Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures announced today that director Zack Snyder’s upcoming action adventure “Man of Steel” will be presented in 3D in select theaters, as well as in 2D and IMAX®, so fans of the iconic superhero will be able to experience the much-anticipated movie in their format of choice.

Snyder stated:

“The film is going to be a visually exciting experience in all formats: 2D, 3D and IMAX. Anticipating how audiences today embrace 3D, we designed and photographed the movie in a way that would allow ‘Man of Steel’ to captivate those movie goers, while respecting fans who prefer a more traditional cinematic experience. We’ve taken great measures to ensure the film and the story come first, and 3D is meant as an enhancement.”

The film stars Henry Cavill in the role of Superman/Clark Kent, alongside three-time Oscar® nominee Amy Adams (“The Fighter”), Oscar® nominee Michael Shannon (“Revolutionary Road”), Academy Award® winner Kevin Costner (“Dances with Wolves”), Oscar® nominee Diane Lane (“Unfaithful”), Oscar® nominee Laurence Fishburne (“What’s Love Got to Do with It”), Antje Traue, Ayelet Zurer, Christopher Meloni, Harry Lennix, Michael Kelly, Richard Shiff, and Academy Award® winner Russell Crowe (“Gladiator”).

“Man of Steel” is produced by Charles Roven, Emma Thomas, Christopher Nolan and Deborah Snyder. The screenplay was written by David S. Goyer, from a story by Goyer & Nolan, based upon Superman characters created by Jerry Siegel & Joe Shuster and published by DC Entertainment. Thomas Tull, Lloyd Phillips and Jon Peters are the film’s executive producers.

Warner Bros. Pictures presents, in association with Legendary Pictures, a Syncopy Production, a Zack Snyder Film, “Man of Steel.” The film is slated for release on June 14, 2013 and will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

I remember seeing Superman Returns in IMAX -- I recall it had 20 minutes or so of 3D footage.
