I thought The Hangover was OK, but didn't think it was as funny as everyone said it was. Definitely won't be seeing the sequel.

I still think the first one is funny and gets funnier with subsequent viewings. However, I didn't follow much internet hype at the time, so I had no real expectations.
IMO, this will seem forced and unnecessary. Having it happen twice is a bit far fetched. Having it happen twice and coming across both Ken Jeong and Tyson again is beyond all realms of believability.
Honestly, did they make a sequel to Animal House? Just let the first one stand by itself.

I actually thought the first movie was quite funny the first two times I watched it (at the theater) but grew tiresome by the third viewing at home. Even my father-in-law who had hear about it and wanted to see it was bored by the end after watching it at my house. I'll watch the second one but I'm not super excited about it.

Whenever I hear about this sequel, I think "How will they get rid of Bartha this time around?" It worked best with those three specific guys, no matter that he's their best friend; he'll still be an outsider to us. But if he's missing again and they try to find him, it'll be a rehash...maybe a "He's on the phone from 10,000 miles away and meets them for a bit"? Ah well they probably won't even get rid of him....

I'm guessing that Justin Bartha gets kidnapped by Ken Jeong's relatives and the three guys have to figure out what happened.

He's great in Community though. Speaking of getting tired of actors who seem to be in everything lately, at least Betty White isn't in The Hangover 2 ... yet.

Ken Jeong needs to stop. The only reason he's bearable in Community is because there are episodes where he's hardly in it at all, and his character is far less outrageous than the one he played in The Hangover.
I loved The Hangover, but I also don't see how this will work without feeling forced or like a rehash. Let the first one stand on its own.

Re: Hangover 2 (2011) (dir.Todd Phillips)
via screen rant...
The Hangover 2 might not be getting Academy Award winner Mel Gibson for its star cameo, but the movie will still feature an Oscar nominee: Liam Neeson. Neeson flew from his New York home to join the cast in Thailand on Thursday. The last-minute switch came on the heels of a decision by filmmakers to not include Mel Gibson in the movie.
While the cameo spot was originally meant for Gibson, cast and crew decided they didn’t want to work with the controversial star. Given Gibson’s negative publicity over the last year, and, more generally, over the last five years, it’s not hard to empathize with their position.
So what role will Neeson be playing? According to Neeson, he was called in for a “one day shoot” in which he will play “a tattooist in Thailand.” He didn’t know any more about the role beyond that, but Neeson did say he was a fan of the first Hangover film. In discussing his appearance, the Irish actor told Variety, “I just laughed my leg off when I saw ‘The Hangover, I was shooting in Berlin earlier this year and rented it on the hotel TV.”
When Gibson was first announced as the likely celebrity cameo for the film, it seemed like a good fit. After all, he was following in the footsteps of Mike Tyson, a convicted rapist who served time in federal prison. My expectation was that they wanted to go with someone who was in a career rebuilding phase, and someone who was also slightly controversial.
Of course, there’s controversial and then there’s toxic. Mel Gibson, for all of his directorial and acting triumphs, is one of the most notorious celebrities in Hollywood. The bad buzz around Gibson is simply too fresh for the actor to mount any kind of comeback right now. He’ll have to wait it out some more before he gets a second chance, though rest assured, he’ll get one. It is Hollywood after all, where a hit movie can smooth over a lot of bad blood.
In any case, with the addition of Neeson, Hangover fans will still be getting a treat. Though the actor seems to have switched focus from his most critically-acclaimed roles in movies like Rob Roy and Schindler’s List to more popcorn fare like Taken and The A Team, there’s no denying his acting chops or his widespread popularity. I suspect that Neeson will do quite well in his cameo role.
My real concern with The Hangover 2 isn’t in the cameos anyway, but rather whether the movie can be as consistently hilarious as its predecessor. Immediately after seeing it, The Hangover launched onto my list of all-time favorite comedies. I’m excited for the sequel, but I’m interested to see how the cast and crew will keep things fresh and interesting. Adding Neeson to the cast is a good start.
The Hangover 2 is set to hit theaters on May 26.

Remind me not to visit screen rant any time soon...
Disappointed over the lack of Gibson... everyone loves Neeson, but he doesn't exactly have that shock or surprise factor it seems like those cameos were meant for.

Yeah, who wants to work with drunken Mel Gibson! Maybe they should another cameo out of the very unstable convicted rapist Mike Tyson.

Yeah, I don't get this. Anyone who complained about Gibson because of his problems but found Tyson funny in the original needs to get some help.

Unless they're Jewish...or Black...or Mexican...or one of the NUMEROUS minorities Gibson went on racist tirades about during his drunken rants. Last I checked Tyson actually served time in prison for his crimes, and didn't go on any racist rants about minorities. Gibson, for all intents and purposes (besides fewer movies) gets to continue living his life as a racist woman-beater just fine.

But Mel Gibson is an Artist. He should get a pass.

My opinion is that Galifianakis' complaints were more comedy-based than anything. I can buy that crew members might've been upset about it, and that the cast used their swing to protect the crew.
And while I understand a rape is far far worse than anything Gibson has done, I can also understand people perceiving Gibson's attitude as more pervasive. Tyson committed an act, whereas people believe Gibson has a viewpoint, and their issues with him may stem back to The Passion of the Christ through to today. There's no reason to believe Mike Tyson will rape someone on set, whereas someone could certainly believe, if they feel Gibson thinks racist thoughts, that he could be a racist on set, because racism is (as far as I know) a constant.

Plus it's much easier for me to believe that Tyson has grown up, rehabilitated himself and become a better man... I can't say the same for Gibson.
