Re: Sam Raimi

I had issues w/ one and two. The cheese factor was too much at times.

Re: Sam Raimi

May not be his best and I have yet to see his "serious films" but I love Darkman. The way Neeson works up the amount of rage in that finger-bending scene was awesome, .

What is your favorite Sam Raimi film?
Consider me one of the few. He is a great director, and Drag Me To Hell proved what he's capable of when he is on his game!

I've found that none of these films hold up very well. 1 feels incredibly dated; it has for the last couple of years. 2 was better, but it has no real staying power with me. And we all know about 3.

I totally agree w/ all said.

I like SM1 but...it hasn't aged well. SM2 is better and thankfully doesn't have the same cheese feel that SM1, or at least to it's level, had. And 3...well...yeah. I did the like the 1st quarter of the film.

Seeing as how Evil Dead II is the greatest movie ever made throughout human history, yeah, I'd have to pick that.

..and that ain't no hyperbole.

Saying that any Sam Raimi film should be included in a list of the top 500 films in history is hyperbole.

Yeah. Good thing your top 500 films are the same as mine 'cause if we had those differing opinions that'd really suck and all.

Plus, the hyperbole comment was a joke. Get it?

Well, now that you've explained that it was a joke, I got it. As for differing opinions, I find Sam Raimi films to be goofy fun and nothing more. Different strokes and all...

That has to be one of the strangest and borderline ignorant statements that I've ever read. If he's not a great director, then what is he? Since the release of THE EVIL DEAD, hundreds of other directors have mimicked his visual style and the Cohens have built their careers on that. Raimi is a mediocre writer at best, but he is an awesome director.

A mediocre director? Or a good director... at best.

A great director is Hitchcock, Kurosawa, Kubrick, Godard, Griffith, Wilder, Welles, Truffaut, Scorsese, etc...

The list is long.

There are hundreds of directors more talented than Raimi.

Sorry.

Re: Sam Raimi

I'll probably go Evil Dead > Army of Darkness > Spider-Man 2.

With that said, I would defend SM3. Yes, it did have too many characters, and it did kind of collapse on itself, but the dance scene is frickin' hilarious! And I'm not being facetious here, I thought it was funny in the slapsticky way he was more known for before going serious or taking up Spider-Man

Yeah...too fucking bad it wasn't in the proper tone for the character....I hated that scene. I felt like yelling in the theater during it.
