There's two women. Charisma Carpenter who looks rougher than usual and that cute rebel chick
Spoiler:
who I bet is Garza's (David Zayas) daughter.

Charisma Carpenter has 2 scenes and looks not very good with a horrible fake tan.

Thanks for the confirmation. I take it you saw it? If so, given you're alive (and assuming you're not a ghost), I also take it you liked it?

Although she never looked that great to begin with, she looked particularly horrible in that clip I saw of her in the other The Expendables thread.

Ah. I dunno. All I want out of this movie is action galore w/ something to move me to action to action scene. I think they call that a plot in these movies...I call it a peebreak. Honestly though...I just want a good action film. That Stallone and Statham fight was pretty cool. Hopefully it's all good in what I remember of the norm for 80s action films.

Don't expect anything better than the clips already in this thread. There are only 3 1/2 (continuation of the Stallone + Statham clip) other action scenes in the movie, and one of them's really short.

Wait, what? Are you serious? That's what? Six action sequences total? "Drop your guns", basketball fight, "you coulda killed me" (plus its extension), and three other scenes?

I know Rambo/John Rambo only really had four action sequences (the nightime village assault, the daytime village assault, the night rescue, and the final battle) and four mini-sequences (the first landmine "game", the river pirates, the second landmine "game"/arrow sequence, and the running from the dogs/tall boy bomb scene) but those scenes stood out a heck of a lot more than the very vannilla clips we've seen thus far. I was okay with them as I thought they were just little teaser sequences.

There also Li vs. Gary Daniels.

Re: The Expendables (Stallone, 2010) — The Reviews Thread

1. Boat opening (5m)
2. Stallone + Statham fight and Dock Scene in fake Cuba (all 1 scene, about 7m)
3. Stallone and Li car chase + Li vs. Lundgren (all 1 scene, about 8m)
4. Statham beats up basketball players (2m?)
5. Continuous finale that includes Stallone vs. Austin, Li/Statham vs. Daniels, many explosions, and Couture vs. Austin (15m)

Timecodes correspond to the action (the whole boat scene is maybe 8 minutes, but only around 5 of them consist of action) and are rough estimates based on my memory.

So 37 minutes of action in a 103 minute movie (of which probably 10 minutes are credits)? That doesn't sound too bad. However, not nearly as much as I was hoping.

So Lundgren and Li don't get a rematch? Their fight is one and done?

I thought they did get a rematch? Could've sworn it was mentioned..guess I made it up in my mind.

37 mins. of action? That's still pretty good. Going w/ my roommate tonight. I think...he may not totally understand how long I've wanted a film like this to exist. That poor soul won't know what hit him..

^ Dude, please keep your expectations in check. Still sounds like a good amount of action on par with what the 80s gave us. Definitely seems like more than Cobra (1986).

Droidguy: I was referring to First Blood part II and III (aka Rambo III). I think the original First Blood is a powerful movie that actually gives Stallone credibility as an actor. I think the last Rambo movie made was the most direct sequel to the original in the feel. I haven't seen the DC, but I have heard it's basically the deleted scenes put back into the original.

My understanding is the opposite, that it's a significantly re-shaped and re-edited movie. But I haven't seen it either.

Re: The Expendables (Stallone, 2010) — The Reviews Thread

The Extended Rambo isn't just deleted scenes put in. In some cases...yeah but not much. One scene in particular actually gives depth to Rambo. Something the TC lacked. With that depth...the ending is much stronger for the character. Also some better editing along the way. My only issue w/ the new cut is how it totally cuts out about 4-5 secs. of En-Joo killing a guy in the bad guy compound. The TC cut of that moment showed the very painful but gritty realistic method of how long it actually takes to quickly kill a guy asap.

Re: The Expendables (Stallone, 2010) — The Reviews Thread

I saw it tonight and it was basically a crappy DTV rental. I'd give it between one and a half and two stars but a fantastic bit of acting from Mickey Rourke in on scene bumps it up to around two and a half or three stars.

The action was poorly shot and poorly edited. The writing was bad even for this kind of movie. Even the plot was dumber than these kinds of movies usually have. Also, I can see why they were tempted to release a PG-13 cut. This was clearly shot with a PG-13 in mind with some cusses and piss-poor CGI gore added after the fact.

The only good are the aformentioned soliloquy by Rourke, the Stallone/Willis/Schwarzenegger scene, and a few scattered action beats.

I want a sequel but only as an appology from Stallone for this potential-filled letdown.
