I enjoyed the first and thought VanDamm would have been a great addition. Stallone is just plain getting old. Yes he's in great shape for a guy his age but he's getting old and the injuries he suffered while filming were showing on screen. Pretty soon it'll look like Barnaby Jones.

Confirmed: Jean-Claude Van Damme will play a villain in The Expendables 2!
Several sources are reporting it so it must be true.
I know he's probably busy with the next UniSol flick but it'd be cool if John Hyams took over as director.

Yeah, that irked me as well. But I just gritted my teeth and rolled with it. It helped to know beforehand of the fact that Dolph was only available for 5 days of shooting and Van Damme for 20 days. Hopefully they can schedule more time for the next flick.

I love this film...a sequel is definitely welcome. The movie is so cheesy and ridiculous but it absolutely works....I hope they stick to the same formula for the next.

No. As much as I enjoyed the ever loving fuck out of it...it's heavily flawed. Tone down on the fucking colortiming, get a tighter script, get more action, stop getting edit happy, less cg blood....well less cg in general, and shoot a damn fight scene better. That's what we need for the next one. Unless you're talking about the formula that makes it fun...well yeah..bring more fun. But also correct the shit that you failed w/ the last time.

After hearing about Van Damme being the villain in the next one I decided to finally check this movie out. It was pretty lame. I cannot believe there are people in this thread who were ok with the cgi blood, it was horrible. Not sure why they bothered having Couture in it either, he just seemed like a fish out of water to me. But the thing that bothered me the most about the movie was that during a lot of the fight scenes, the action was sped up. It was like some of the punches, kicks, etc were being played in fast forward. What the fuck is that about?

I just watched this on Netflix the other day. Didn't care for it. Not even good as a summer popcorn flick. Best part of the movie was the automatic shotgun scene towards the end (even with the cgi blood is was cool). I really was hoping to see a better known 80's/90's villain. Van Damme, Steven Seagal, Jackie Chan, shit even Arnold as the bad guy would have been better.
