I'd still probably say my favorite of his is Born on the 4th of July. Well made movie and Tom Cruise really gave a top notch performance. I also like JFK even though it's not perfect and the historical inaccuracies annoy me.

Re: Oliver Stone

After re-watching JFK this week, it just cemented it's place as Stone's best film. It is truly extraordinary. Everyone brings their A-game, and historical inaccuracies aside, it's a hell of a story made by a filmmaker firing on all cylinders. The attention to detail is astounding and the era is recreated with incredible precision. It's a masterpiece.

Nixon is my 2nd favorite Stone film and it works beautifully as a companion piece to JFK.

Mike86, I agree that Cruise really gave a great performance in Born on the 4th of July.. I'm not a fan of his, but I think that is his best work.

I enjoyed initial viewings much better. I'll agree the detail and sets are extraordinary but the inaccuracies that have surfaced since the film was made detract from the enjoyment.

I remember seeing an interview with Stone around the time of the release. He stated that he wasn't endorsing any of these other theories, he just wanted to show how many other possibilities there are. I always believed in the multiple shooter scenario. However after watching several documentaries that addressed several key issues; the head snapping back and to the left and Oswald calm cool and collected after walking down xx# flights of stairs. I realized much of what he presented was far fetched.

Subsequent viewings just seemed long to me.

Re: Oliver Stone

The director's cuts of JFK, Nixon, and Natural Born Killers are his great trilogy.

Re: Oliver Stone

I agree that JFK is Stone's best film. The direction and editing are amazing. The acting is solid especially by Tommy Lee Jones, Gary Oldman & Joe Pesci. I also love Talk Radio, Wall Street and the underrated U-Turn.

My favorite is U-Turn. His best is either Platoon or JFK.

Re: Oliver Stone

With all the talk about NBK, I wanted to start a poll about Oliver Stone. Looks like there already is one.

So VOTE! What's your favourite Stone flick?

This poll does not include Savages, but... Savages.

Re: Oliver Stone

It was a close call between Platoon and JFK. I decided to go with JFK.
