Natural Born Killers. It's a mess, but it's a glorious uninhibited mess. Tommy Lee Jones is a riot.
(Wall Street and Platoon are close seconds).

While I realize that Oliver Stone was only the Executive Producer in this film/miniseries, Wild Palms is the only movie I particularly cared for which he had anything to do with. -kd5-

I like most of Stone's movies.
I love Natural Born Killers' complete disregard of traditional conventions. The psycho violence is respectfully justified. Everyone was directed to be such loons. There's not a single relatedly-normal character in the whole movie.
The art direction was top-notch. The feel and the music and everything is just really entertaining. I know that it has it's satirical message. And you're not really supposed to be having a good time. You're supposed to be dignified and shit and have an objective viewpoint. But I just think it's a super fun time. I guess I'm just one of the dummies who gives into the escapistic violence that the message of the movie opposes.

Platoon, saw it with a bunch of other guys during a battle skills course we were taking in Arkansas and we were impressed with the patrolling scenes.

Last time we had a poll about Oliver Stone, it ended in a tie between JFK and Platoon. This one is headed the same way. Nice consistency, people.

Re: Oliver Stone
JFK with that many votes? Really? Do people really believe it or do they view it as fictional entertainment?
I voted Wall Street. However, I find Any Given Sunday to be the most fun and always watch a week or so before football season starts.

Re: Oliver Stone
I voted Nixon. I like it more than JFK now, but I also really like JFK.
I don't like Platoon. It has almost no effect on me and has a melodramtic ending. It's one of my least favorite Stone films and as a Vietnam film it's not particularly good either. FMJ and Apocalypse are better.

I voted Wall Street.
Why am I not bothered by JFK's ridiculous history but I am bothered by Wall Street's ridiculous economics? I'm not sure.
Edit:
I think JumpCutz, in the next post, answered my question

It's it's in a whole different league.

JFK is a brilliant film. The acting, directing, editing, production design, cinematography and score far surpass those same elements in Wall Street.

I generally don't care much for his films but I found Born on the Fourth of July pretty enjoyable. Wall Street is decent enough too I suppose. Absolutely can't stand Natural Born Killers though, overrated piece of crap.

Re: Oliver Stone
I'm watching Nixon today for the first time, and while I agree with many critics that Anthony Hopkins portrayal of Nixon was buffoonish, I appreciated that it seemed to be planted in some kind of historical perspective and realism (unlike JFK).
For years, I always held Born on the Fourth of July in great esteem, mostly because the performance given by Tom Cruise was top-notch, but mostly because it told a story without the strange imagery that Stone became famous for in the 1990s and 2000s. BOTFOJ ripped my guts out, and continues to do so after repeated viewings, and the definition of a good drama to me is when I feel like I'm getting my guts ripped out.
I always liked JFK, too, until I was educated enough to realize that the slant Stone took with his film was biased towards DA Jim Garrison. And the fact that he named the film JFK without the film being about the man's life, but about the circumstances upon which the man died. The film is solid entertainment, but from a historical perspective, it severely lacks. And the side-effect of Jim Garrison being discredited by the world doesn't help the film, either. But since Stone doesn't believe Garrison to be almost criminal of his prosecution of Clay Shaw, I guess we have to just sit tight in our assurances that we somehow know better.
Whether we agree (or if history agrees) with Oliver Stone's interpetations of his Presidental Biopics, I think he should still continue making them. Whether he's full of shit or not, it at least gives us something of an education if we've known virtually nothing about a former president before. I don't consider JFK a presidential biopic because it's not about his presidency, but about his death. But Nixon and W. were good, and I hope he continues with presidents, both popular and little-known.
But Born on the Fourth of July is my favorite, back in 1989, and even now.

Platoon. I liked the thought proking JFK however many of his points are too easily contradicted. I am one that believes LHO had help and I still saw huge holes in some of the points presented in an overly long film.
