Re: Favorite movie of 1985???????
Plus, the U.S. release version was very different from the Japanese version, with all the Raymond Burr footage and Dr. Pepper product placements added here, after the fact, much like the difference between GOJIRA (1954) and GODZILLA, KING OF THE MONSTERS (1956), which, I would argue, were two different films, despite the reliance of one on footage from the other.
Also, in the 1985 film, they changed Burr's character name to Steven Martin, rather than Steve Martin. When I saw GODZILLA, KING OF THE MONSTERS on the big screen for the first time, it was in a packed auditorium at Japan Society in NYC in 1979, the year of THE JERK. When Burr introduced himself as Steve Martin, the crowd went berserk and laughed and roared for several minutes. A once-in-a-lifetime moviegoing experience. You show the same scene to an audience today, no one reacts.

Well of my top 5 favorites of all time only one was released in 85 which is Re-Animator. Honorable mentions and if you asked me when i was ten at the end of 1985 I would probably Bttf, Weird Science, better off dead, and Fletch.

According to Flickchart, my favorite movie of 1985 is Back to the Future. But, in the interest of full disclosure, I've only ranked 14 movies from that year. I was a kid and didn't see many movies at the time, and haven't gotten around to seeing many from that period yet.
