She invited him to the hotel as part of her setting him up. She picked a hotel with that "odd" layout for a specific reason. She isn't in another room in their suite. She is in a different suite altogether. She invited him to the room he went to, she pre-trashed it to look as though they had a fight, and was waiting for him in a room across the alley so he would have no chance of stopping her from jumping.

What amused me most of the movie was that the set for the first dream with Saito looked like a simple redress of R'as Al Ghul's monastery in Batman Begins. I kept hoping Liam Neeson would pop up during that sequence.
Wow. I didn't know it was such a barren winter wasteland up north. Canadians must be Frost Giants.

Amazing movie. The concept and execution made The Dark Knight look like a generic crime thriller.
Nolan's best movie since Memento which is still his best.

I voted ***** for the purposes of this poll, but I really wanted to vote like ****3/4 or 9.5/10.0. Not quite perfect, and not my favorite of Nolan's work, but damn good and probably the best movie I've seen so far this year, along with Toy Story 3.

I saw it again last night. Is anyone else really amazed by the performances of the actors? This was probably Leo's best performance of his career. JGL, Ellen Page, and Cillian Murphy were amazing. It's hard to do sci-fi properly, because usually the actors are muttering absurd lines and they're on fragmented sets. Which brings me to another point - how the hell did they do that hallway fight scene? I was completely immersed in the film by then. The special effects were spectacular. They were either totally surreal, as intended, or they were seamless.
A great movie to wrap up the decade for sure.

I saw it again today. I believe this definitely edges out The Prestige as my favorite Nolan movie. I also like that there are plenty of potential clues (or red herrings, depending on your opinion) through the course of the movie to support either that it was all real or all a dream.
This is a day one BD purchase for me.

Haven't read this yet:
Revisiting 'Inception': A spoiler-heavy explanation of the year's trippiest film
EDIT: Although he got a few minor details wrong, I like that he noted the potential of a
going on throughout the movie. It's that ambiguity that makes it so infinitely rewatchable. And a major reason why I hope that Nolan doesn't include any kind of commentary on the BD/DVD, unless it be of a technical nature. This is not a movie that should be explained but rather debated.

It's amazing how good those looked, but how crappy the effect of Leo and Ellen walking up the wall was. I was reminded of Han stepping on Jabba's tail in the Star Wars SE when I saw that.

Really hope there is a good making of on the blu. One of the few I'd like to see.

Okay, so that was an amazing movie. Loved every second of it. It was extremely well made, especially the use of the score in certain sequences. This film was already a lock for a Best Picture slot, but it should rack up the nominations on the technical aspects. I'm hoping it'll help Leo nab one of the Actor slots.

Does anyone know why Arthur isn't woken up by the first failed van kick? Wouldn't he wake up since he was just one more level down and not two like everyone else? Maybe there was a quick line of dialogue I missed?

One of the better Inception tweets I read was "man, Christopher Nolan really has a thing for messing up Ken Watanabe's house."

If it does, it will be because this is not a particularly strong year for films. Although I do think I pointed out earlier in the thread that if it won the best picture oscar it would be as a make-up for TDK being snubbed.

I doubt it will win, although as of now I think it deserves it, but it will and should be nominated for best picture and many other awards.
