Actors who went out on a weak note
Same idea as the other thread, but these movies suck.
My pick: Sean Connery in League of Extraordinary Gentlemen - Ok, so he isn't dead yet... but he most likely won't be making another film again, and this was a piss poor note to end such an amazing career on.

Gene Hackman in 'Welcome to Mooseport'.
He had fun in it, but it didn't fit his masterful talent, nor did it bookend a pretty incredible career all that well either.

Seconding Gene Hackman - Welcome to Mooseport
Raul Julia - Street Fighter (though that wouldn't have been his choice, I'm sure)

Has anyone said Gene Hackman in Welcome to Mooseport?
I would have loved to see him conclude his career with the solid Runaway Jury.

Whoops, I just noticed there is a duplicate thread where I too said Gene Hackman. Sad to see that at least 3 of us called that one in a matter of minutes.

Re: Actors who went out on a weak note
that can be sort of hard to gauge. I mean, Marlon Brando was in The Godfather and On The Waterfront, compared to those, The Score was going out on a weak picture.
Do you mean judging the movie on its own merits, or taking in consideration of the career the actor/actress had?

John Candy - Wagons East. I haven't seen it, but I haven't heard good things.
Back when he and Raul Julia died, I imagined a convo between the two of them wherein they tell each other what their final films were and sympathize with one another.

Gene Hackman is the winning answer here, both because his last movie was horrible and because he was such a great actor.

I'm counting feature films only, so...
Groucho Marx in "Skidoo" (although he does cameo as himself in 1972's "The Candidate"
James Cagney in "Ragtime" (his first role in 15 years and it's painful to watch)
Cary Grant in 'Walk, Don't Run" (his previous three films were "Touch of Mink," "Charade" and "Father Goose")

Vic Morrow came to mind immediately
I like this cheesy movie but I'm sure he probably didn't

then of course came that twilight zone disaster that cost him his life.

Funny, I mentioned that one in the "strong note" thread, but only on the basis of it's 8 Oscar nominations (including Elizabeth McGovern- whatever happened to her?). Perhaps it's telling that the film won none. I wonder what Robert Altman, originally slated to direct, would have done with the material.
