That reporter in his mind put Gibson in a no win situation. Gibson tries to put the comments behind him and he gets labeled unapologetic. Had he done the opposite and gone on the defensive, I'm sure the reporter would have spun that into a negative.

I can kinda see where the reporter was coming from. It's nice to see some reporters who don't have short term memory and hold celebrities accountable for their actions or what they say.
I didn't think what Sam Rubin said was completely uncalled for because when you're in the public eye and make comments about a certain group you should expect to get called on it.

That said, aren't these type of interviews supposed to be just puff pieces to promote the movie? Also, the controversial comments Gibson made were while he was under the influence of alcohol. We all say some crazy stuff when we're drunk.

Does this same guy do interviews like this all the time? Is he going to bring up various actors cocaine binges, hit and run accidents, etc, and ask, "what if people don't want you to come back?"

I think gibson handled himself rather well actually. There are many actors in hollywood that would have knocked the reporter out for a comment like that. The shit is done, move on. Bringing up something that happened almost 4 years ago was a douche move of the reporter. And honestly who cares if he said sorry or not. They were words people, it wasn't the nicest thing for him to say, but the world is not always nice. People need to get over getting offended about words, especially words that were not individually directed at them.
