....well I was kinda confused to what that interviewer meant as well at first. Welcome him back? sure...it's been a while since he starred in a flick (which is what I thought he meant) He should never come back? Again...I was like..why? I remember what the guy was talking about once he explained later but...seemed like he accidentally set himself up for that.

I see nothing wrong here. That douche reporter basically says, "well there have been numerous reports of him apologizing and trying to make amends, but ya know what, I personally haven't heard it with my own two ears here, so, as far as I'm concerned he hasn't apologized."

I don't get all the hatred for Gibson just based on that 20 second interview clip. It seemed like the interviewer was trying to stir things up. This was obviously just a simple movie promo piece, as evidenced by Gibson's co-star being a part of it. I'm left with more of a negative opinion for the guy doing the interview here, than I am with Gibson.

Yeah, me too. I'd be defensive too if someone thought that I (Mel Gibson) shouldn't come back to act in a flick for some mysterious reason.

I cry foul. Sam Rubin was the jackass here. He didn't leave or wasn't forced
from acting on screen because of his incident. If Rubin couldn't get past is
own personal feelings on Gibson perhaps he shouldn't be doing the interview.
That's when you pass the line from reporter to gossip hound.

Gibson doesn't owe anyone anything. We'd like an apology but if he's pushed into giving one, it's the same as his not apologising. It wont be genuine.

Sam Rubin has always been and always will be a putz who isn't really worth much more than a laugh - at, not with. He's one of the things I don't miss about not having KTLA anymore.

The title is true, Mel is a jackass, but everyone else is just as right, that reporter is a pansy ass. He backed down as soon as Mel tried to defend himself, then the reporter suddenly grew balls weeks after, in a studio, miles away from him. It was a bitch move, and he should have just shut his mouth and done his job. If he wanted no part of Gibson and the junket, he didn't have to. Separate the actor and the person, I'm not going to shake Mel's hand, but I'm not going to go to the movie because him. The other actors in the film, the writers, and producers, the directors shouldn't be blamed for the actions of a drunk jackass.

The reporter was being a huge douche and I'm with Gibson here. Seems like he was just looking to create controversy and the subsequent discussion with the other newscasters just proves that.

The reporter should have fought back, I agree, but for Gibson to act like the incident 3 years ago never happened is arrogant on his part.

Yeah, he did it. It's done. We don't know exactly what's in Gibson's normal mindset to say that overall. As long as he doesn't rape 11-13 yr. old girls, kills people, or do things to people that I otherwise would be offended by...he and I...we're cool. Unless he hates Mexican student filmmakers...I still think I'd watch his flicks as long as they're good.
