Re: Spider-Man (2012, Marc Webb)

Box office update: 'The Amazing Spider-Man' earns a record-breaking $35 million on Tuesday
Looks like Sony has another hit on their hands!

The studio’s reboot The Amazing Spider-Man grossed $35 million on its opening day in theaters ($7.5 million of that came from midnight showings, and $4 million from 307 IMAX screens), thereby beating the 2-D, IMAX-less Transformers, which earned $27.9 million on its opening day on July 3, 2007, and setting a new Tuesday box office record.
“We are off to an outstanding start here in North America with big fireworks still to come!” says an excited rep for the studio. The July 4th frame is always a lucrative one in theaters.

The $220 million action movie now seems headed for a six-day total above $150 million (Transformers earned $155.4 million in its first six days) — high above Sony’s internal expectations, which had The Amazing Spider-Man earning between $110 and $120 million during the Tuesday-to-Sunday period. Of course, there’s always the chance the picture could crumble from here, but that seems unlikely. Spidey offers an upbeat, popcorn-munching adventure on the weekend when people are most likely to see effects-heavy blockbusters, and audiences are enjoying the film — it earned an “A-” CinemaScore grade.

if you combined the eyes of 2 on the suit of 1. That'd be a good looking suit.

I don't like the off-center emblem on suit 1.

The middle one looks like a Batman logo on his chest.

Re: Spider-Man (2012, Marc Webb)

They made the right choice with keeping the costume more on the traditional side. I don't like the looks of any of those really to be honest. The first two have too much red if you ask me. Plus the webbing barely even stands out on any of those designs. The third could be okay with some modifications.

Re: Spider-Man (2012, Marc Webb)

Yeah, though not perfect, the third is the best.

I just noticed the first also has a spider eblem just above his left shin. I guess the idea was to have the look of spiders crawling all over the web pattern of his costume. I really don't like that design.

Re: Spider-Man (2012, Marc Webb)

I like the costume we got, more traditional, also..I love how we the brighter read and blue over the dull hues Raimi's had..though I also liked that costume for how close it was to the original. just like ASM's more cuz it was bolder.

another Spidey design:

unused design for The lizard, i probably would've preferred this...still don't know why they just didn't go w/ his most used design.

What I thought would be interesting (although a big departure) would be Vibram style footwear for Spidey. Since he can grab onto anything with any part of his body, why not give him that extra amount of freedom for his toes.

more lizard concept art:

spoilered cuz they're more of them and they're big:
Spoiler:

I dig the head shot of #1 but dig the body of #2. 2's head is a bit too cranial for me but I dig the face a bit.

Re: Spider-Man (2012, Marc Webb)

I don't know if I mentioned this but after looking at that artwork I'm thinking it must suck for the dude who was Connors in Raimi's trilogy. After every movie he was probably like "Okay, NEXT movie I get to become the bad guy. Fingers crossed!"

^^It is the Billy Dee Williams syndrome because when there is revisionism going on with your superhero franchise then even "innocents" are purged.

Re: Spider-Man (2012, Marc Webb)

Yeah the overall design of The Lizard from those concept pictures looks way better. Don't know why they went with what they used. I still think the lab coat would've added a lot to the overall look as well. I know they used it in one scene but it looked cooler to me in that brief time than pretty much the rest of the film.

Re: Spider-Man (2012, Marc Webb)

That's for sure. That lab coat added...character to the character. Otherwise..he's just a cgi lizard monster. Which he was going to be either way (they could've gone w/ some practical too but whatever)..but the lab coat adds a color and design element. I can take a nude Lizard..but not one w/o the lab coat. It just looks better. When SWAT was shooting at him and etc..he looked great in it.

Surprised that they would bring Webb back.
