The Lion King (Still haven't seen it, although I do own it)
For audience reaction purposes;
Paranormal Activity
The Blair Witch Project
The Room (I refuse to watch this, unless I am at a packed 12AM screening)

Superman IV. Seriously. I was eight and my mom kept saying "We'll see it soon."
But we never did.

Though later the management put and end to smoking weed, you could drink and do all manner of other things.
Good times...

The Rock
Wasn't big on Bad Boys (though it has grown on me) so didn't think much of Bay even after a bunch of friends raved about The Rock. Then caught it on VHS and was floored. Have caught all Bay directed movies in the theaters since (with the exception of The Island). Things just get blow'd up much better on the big screen.
Titanic
Saw it in theater but not big screen. Things just kept coming up and never got around to seeing it while it was still on the large screens. When i finally did go see it, it was a the budge theaters. That was not cool. Not cool at all.

Certainly not a great movie, nor one required to be seen on the big screen but I regret not catching Mallrats during its brief run. I had seen Clerks on video shortly before Mallrats came out and loved it so I'd wanted to see the director's next movie. By the time I'd finally decided to see it, it was gone.

Two more of my favorite theater experiences. Caught Boogie Nights in a packed house on opening night in City Walk. My celeb crush at the time, Sarah Michelle Gellar sat five seats away from me (yes, I counted).
Another I wish I'd caught in theaters: the original Night of the Living Dead

The Exorcist....I still haven't seen the whole film. But I would LOVE to have been in the theaters back in the 70's when it came out. I've heard so many stories of people fainting, running out of the theater, vomiting in the aisles. I'm sure there was a lot of BS/hype in those stories but who knows....

Re: Movies that you missed on the big screen and regret
As far as recent films go, I was a late-comer to the Harry Potter series, the first one I saw in theaters was Goblet of Fire. I regret missing the first three. Also wish I had seen The Departed and Cast Away while they were in theaters.
As far as historical films go, I could imagine seeing Jaws in the theater would have been something, and The Empire Strikes Back during it's original release just to see how people reacted to Darth Vader telling Luke he was his father.
Should I have used spoiler tags for that?

I was lucky enough to see it on the big screen in an original 35mm print last year. It was awesome.

Some movies jst cry out for a big screen - and if a new movies of that sort in interests me, I generally make it to the theater.
One of the movies I missed in theaters and regret never seeing on a big screen is CLIFFHANGER.

Wow i am surprised you say this. I saw it with a group of friends at the cinema and we all loved it from the get go. Goodfellas and Shawshank are two other movies that people mentioned that i wish i would have seen.

as well, I saw Fight Club at the theater, and loved it.
it tanked, but that was mostly do to no one going to see it. It opened number one with like 11mil, then puttered for like 5 weeks to 37mill, IIRC.

This would be mine too. I actually do not really like the movie and I have often wondered if it is because I have only seen it in my living room.

300 was cool in theaters for you? I despise this movie - and I've only seen it theatrically.
I wish I had seen Better Luck Tomorrow is theaters. It's one of my all time favorites. I remember it coming to my city and going "Hey, that's that one cool looking independent movie I really want to see!" But it arrived the same week as The Matrix Reloaded - and how could the Matrix Reloaded possibly not be worth seeing opening night in the theater? (If only I could turn back time...)
I also regret not going to see Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence when it came here. Though I did see The Incredibles instead... and that was certainly not a disappointing experience.
Adventureland is a recent one I wish I had seen in theaters. I thought the trailers made it look awful but when I watched it on Blu-ray I fell in love with the film. Coraline is another recent film I missed in theaters and regret not seeing... though I did want to see it before it opened and simply failed to make a showtime during its brief run where I live.

I was born in 83, wasn't allowed to go to R movies till I was mid-teens. So I missed a ton of awesome R-rated movies on the big screen. Actually, when I got old enough to see R-rated movies at will, they started to transition to PG-13.
Can't say that I'm missed much since. I go to the movies all the time.

I actually wish I had seen Moulin Rouge in the theater. While not the greatest movie of all time, that was quite a visually stunning movie. I passed on seeing it in the theater and wish I had once I got the DVD.
Oh, well...there's always the opportunity to see it in high def eventually.

A lot of movies being mentioned in this thread I've actually had the chance of seeing in theaters. However, I really wish I got to catch Hedwig and the Angry Inch in theaters. Didn't catch it until it's DVD release and I still kick myself for not seeing it when it played in Vegas.

I just saw Hudsucker Proxy for the first time, the POV building jumps must have been cool on the big screen.
