Re: Human Centipede (What?)
I wonder how long we can get away with a thread this shitty in nature? From what I've heard, the movie isn't shitty at all, just somewhat underwhelming if you want hardcore horror.

Re: Human Centipede (What?)
This thread has gone to shit.

Re: Human Centipede (What?)
So after 13 pages of this thread, is it the general consensus to not bring any young children to see this film in the theater?
|
Re: Human Centipede (What?)
I might do a double feature tomorrow of Human Centipede, and Trash Humpers. Akihiro Kitamura and Harmony Korine will be in the house for their movies.

Re: Human Centipede (What?)
I would think in theory it might be possible to feed the head a diet consisting of foods that are difficult to digest...think corn or plant matter. The problem is that you would likely have to keep feeding it around the clock to get enough undigested food to pass along to the 2nd and 3rd in line.
If Dr. Heiter was a truly sick bastard he would have fed the centipede with items from this list of 10 hard to digest foods. That would sure have made things more interesting! As for water, it would make sense if the movie shows the Dr. giving his playmates subcutaneous fluids. Also, wouldn't one of the girls likely choke to death on vomit after receiving her "meal"? I haven't seen the movie yet, but I do wonder what the sequel (full sequence) will do to keep things interesting. I hear they will be connecting 12 poor souls in this one which begins shooting next month. |

I know that Heiter is mad, but it's obvious he really wants his experiment to succeed. I guess what I'm getting at is that the way he connected them doesn't make sense if he truly was as passionate and thought everything out the way he claims, as it would not give the centipede that much of a chance of survival.
All in all I didn't really find the movie to be scary at all...and it wasn't nearly as horrifying as many reviews made it out to be. |

Well after reading nearly all of this discussion I just had to see for myself. Just finished watching. He was clearly not as concerned with each individual part of the centipede as he was with the whole. Simply creating it in the first place was his goal. When the hind section was showing signs of dying he was hardly upset about it. Rather he looked at it merely as a piece that could be swapped out for a newer component.

So in essence he just did it for the sake of having done it. Must have been bored after he retired from his medical practice.

I think you could say that. He doesn't really give much in the way of explanation other than that "he doesn't like human beings." Basically he spent his working years separating people (conjoined twins) so for some reason in his retirement he has become infatuated with putting them together...starting with his beloved "sweet 3-dog" and continuing on to the centipede. It was kind of a challenge he set for himself.
So it's an inspirational story of personal triumph. |
Re: Human Centipede (What?)
I don't know that I'll ever actually see this, but my wife came up to me the other day and we had this conversation:
Her: Hey, have you heard about this new movie where... Me: Human Centipede? Her: YES. Me: It's playing at the Uptown. Her: WE WILL NEVER SEE THAT. Me: (shrugs) Okay. I've also been officially banned from talking about the movie in the apartment as she's "finally" gotten the concept out of her head. I think I've found this year's surprise Christmas stocking stuffer. :) |
