Seems strange not to have a Doctor Who panel. People in America would like to have a chance to interact with the new cast and crew.

With Starz having picked up Torchwood, hopefully we get a panel for that next year.

They did, in NY. ;)

But it's no surprise their isn't one. The season is already about to be over, even for the U.S viewers and I think they're at work doing the Christmas special, so no time for con.

looks like more otters than last year attending! Hopefully I'll see you guys next year. It's pretty much an every two years sort of deal for me. Have fun and entertain me with lots of tales and information!

Well, that's a bummer since I may not make next year's Con. I just know you'll miss the regular meet-up at Hooter's

She'd probably go for a strip club before Hooters! I think it's all the fried food and beer that she finds offensive!

Back before the downtown area had it's resurgence, there were plenty of strip clubs downtown. Now, not a one that I can think of.

Goddamn resurgers, killing all of the strip clubs!

Re: Comicon 2010: July 21-25

Plus some of the shadier tattoo shops are gone...and there was even a Pussycat theater.

So, is there interest in a meet-up? We are 1 week away.

Interest in a meetup? With all the strip clubs and shady tattoo shops gone? What's the point?

Spoiler:
I'm always done for a good DVD Talk meetup.

It looks like Thursday will be the first time in all my years going to Con that I will spend all day in Hall H. Never thought that would happen, but I want to see every panel they're running in there, capping it all off with Scott Pilgrim.

Re: Comicon 2010: July 21-25

Yep, I'll be in Hall H all day Thursday too. They have food outside the hall now but I still bring my own drinks and snacks. Of course I remember the first year of Hall H they didn't even have bathrooms inside. Yikes.

So, are we looking at Sunday for the meet-up? Any suggestions as to where and when? I'm pretty open that day.

Sunday would be great. There's actually only one panel I want to see that day.

Tom, how early are you getting in line on Thursday? I think I might skip preview night to go to bed early and get in line nice and early.

I guess I could meet up with you guys. I'll just be holding picket signs all day though, so you'll have to excuse me if my voice is coarse and my arms are tired and covered in tomatoes.

Still thinking 3am-ish. My son is a big Tron fan and he might be there earlier. Nothing set in stone yet. I'm still going to Preview Night plus there's a "social networking" meet afterwards but I told them I won't stay longer than 1 hour.

Good luck with that. I'll be sure and aim at the feet.

Actually will be good seeing ya again. Been a few years.

As for a place to meet, I would suggest the escalators by Ballroom 20. Easy to find and not crowded, other than foot traffic.

Reading this thread makes me wish I had tried harder to fly in on Tuesday or Wednesday, spend 2 full days at SDCC, take the redeye Friday night to arrive in town for my high school reunion on Saturday, and then head on home on Sunday.

But there's always next year for SDCC! Y'all have fun, I'll be living vicariously through the photos and videos and blogs and commentaries in this very thread too.

I'll probably go to preview night long enough to snatch the Starro exclusive from Mattel, but I know I'll end up spending more time on the floor during the show so staying long on preview night isn't really necessary. How early does the convention center parking lot fill up? It would be really nice to park there and not have to walk so far like I normally do.

Convention Center parking was available for pre-purchase and, at this time, not only is it sold out, they were charging double compared to last year.

The question some of us had about the prepaid parking was if it just a section of the parking or the whole thing. From what I remember, I would see the "Parking Full" signs around 8am. The lot opened at 5am. With the prepaid parking I have no idea this year.

Have they always had pre-purchase parking? I haven't gone since 2008, but I don't remember a pre-parking option.

Use the trolley, so much easier.

I use the trolley when possible/practical. It doesn't run at 3am :(
