I agree too. I'm a Preview Night person but I can understand being miffed at the situation for non-Preview Night peeps. I'm hoping they'll find a better way for non-Preview Night badge distribution.

You can't re-sell your pass and last year they were really crazy on those who even tried. Fun story - Friend bought passes for a group of us under his card. One of the guys couldn't make it and this was AFTER the cut off date for returns. He contacted SDCC and told him the situation and tried to get a refund on that one pass. They told him that there was nothing that they could do but that he could still pick up the now vacant pass. So he puts up a craigslist ad to see if anyone would take it off his hands as to not eat the 75 charge. Gets replies, a couple of which were offering him below cost. He turned those down. Eventually did get someone to pay the cost. We go to pick up the badges on preview night and his badge was flagged and he had to go to the main problem solving table and the fine folks at SDCC told him that because he tried to resell the pass on craigslist that they weren't going to give him his badge. They have proof of him trying to sell as SDCC folks were posing as the craigslist interested party only willing to pay below face value for the pass. They almost took the other passes away because they claimed there was no way to tell if he sold them to us... In the end, he didn't get his pass and had to give his CC some hassle to get the charge taken back. Eventually we turned to buying a 4 day pass off someone selling it outside the show..... |

I was actually thinking there was heavy corporate purchasing from assorted entertainment companies trying in "increase their footprint."
Probably a lot of people thinking of scalping their tickets, too, but I'm afraid the audience in 2010 (and beyond) might be filled with militant soccer moms and self-important PA's. This as opposed to the goofy mix of young talent, comics industry old hands, and locals just out for a good time- that characterized SDCC until the mid-1990s. |

Comic Con just twitted that 4-Day passes are gone.
$100 is too little. |
re: Comicon 2010: July 21-25
Single day passes went on sale yesterday. Saturday is already 86% sold. Probably won't make it past the weekend. If you want Saturday, buy NOW.

Now I find out my high school reunion is on the Saturday of Comicon. Decisions...decisions...
|
re: Comicon 2010: July 21-25
That sucks, Patman. Big decision there. Well, depending on how bad you want to see your old classmates. I guess it's too late for them to move the reunion to San Diego :D
|
re: Comicon 2010: July 21-25
With Facebook, the desire to see the old classmates isn't as high as it might have been, but it is the quarter of a century reunion, otherwise attending might not be a high consideration either. Gah! Plus, there's the subconscious need to drop a few pounds that enters into the equation. Haha.

re: Comicon 2010: July 21-25
25 years is pretty big. Good luck in your decision.
Since the thread got bumped might as well say that Friday and Saturday are sold out. Thursday is at 85% and Sunday is at 69%. |

I ended up snagging a free press pass. Guess I'll go after all.

Spurlock, Whedon eye 'Comic-Con' doc
Stan Lee and Harry Knowles also behind 'A Fan's Hope' By MARC GRASER Comic-Con is headed to the bigscreen in a new documentary, "Comic-Con Episode Four: A Fan's Hope." Morgan Spurlock will direct and collaborate with "The Avengers" director Joss Whedon, comicbook vet Stan Lee, Ain't It Cool News' Harry Knowles and Legendary Pictures' topper Thomas Tull on the look at the annual fest for fanboys that takes place each year in San Diego. The docu will follow seven fans from across America, and around the world, as they descend upon Comic-Con. Project will start shooting in June and wrap up in July at the Con. Confab takes place July 22-25. Tull is financing the film independently from his day job as chairman of Legendary Pictures. Pic is expected to eventually be released in theaters. Tull will produce alongside Spurlock's Warrior Poets producing partner, Jeremy Chilnick. Whedon, Lee and Knowles will executive produce. "We look forward to capturing the spirit, energy and people that Comic-Con has infused into legions of fans, bringing these audiences and projects out of the halls and onto a world stage," Tull said. Spurlock, best known for the docu "Super-Size Me," trekked to San Diego last year to film the doc "The Simpsons 20th Anniversary Special: In 3-D! On Ice!" "When I was a kid, comics changed my life and my world," Spurlock said. "So when I got to San Diego, I felt like I was home. It was such an overwhelming experience for me, and I soon found out that I was not alone. So for me to get to share the experience of Comic-Con with fans all over the world will be an incredible opportunity." Legendary has a history in making films that appeal to the Comic-Con contingent, having co-produced Warner Bros.' recent redo of "Clash of the Titans," alnog with "Where the Wild Things Are," the last two Batman adventures, "Superman Returns," "Watchmen" and "300." It's planning a reboot of "Godzilla." |

I hope I get interviewed, so I can badmouth Harry Knowles the whole time!
|
re: Comicon 2010: July 21-25
I emailed for a refund request, so I'm definitely out this year. Bummer.
|
re: Comicon 2010: July 21-25
Sorry to hear that, Patman.

re: Comicon 2010: July 21-25
Is the hatred for Harry Knowles strictly due to the fact that he's a fame-whoring, no-talent slob, or is there another reason that people dislike him?

One month from tomorrow! This link goes to additional services this year but wanted to highlight one of them.
Off-site attendee badge pick-up There are limitations as to who can use the satellite location in Mission Valley but it's nice to have this year for those that want to avoid the crowd at the convention center. |
