I think it's weird that anyone goes to the movies just to make fun of the movie.

Kinda reminds of Tool fans, but worse |

Sometimes a terrible movie can leave the broken despair of it's world and enter a new and exciting realm of hilarity! Clearly, your not MST3000 fans.

Re: Transformers 3 Announced
Given all the recent PR seems centred on why Megan Fox got fired and how Rosie's so sweet her bowel movements smell like bakery fresh cinnamon rolls, anyone else get the vibe that this film might actually be a steaming pile of shit?
Speaking of shit, that clip Snake posted is horrible. Bad acting, writing, and directing. I wonder if we're seeing Bay's version of Spielberg/Capshaw. |

'Transformers' to pump up 3D brightness

Re: Transformers 3 Announced
it's to showcase the amazing versatility of Bay of course! He's showing that he can suck at moronic romantic scenes right along with his usual craptacular action scenes too.

Great review of the first transformers and of Michael Bay and his shooting stype in particular. Really kicks off around the 2:30 mark. |

Posted on Hollywood Elsewhere:
You can agree with Movieline's Christopher Rosen and suggest that Transformers 3 star Shia LaBeouf is shilling insincerely by saying that "the last hour of this movie is the greatest action sequence of Michael Bay's career, which would put it on the same level as the greatest action ever made. "You don't breathe for the last hour. There's just no letup, but it's also not completely overwhelming and disconnected, as the second movie was. You didn't know what was fighting what or where you were geography-wise. There was no way to be able to tell a story, whereas this is very Black Hawk Down action. The geography is very clear. There's only four or five dudes you need to be following. The enemy is very clear. The second movie was so...complicated. The best movies are simple." So I asked a friend who's seen it, and he says LaBeouf isn't wrong. The last 40-plus minutes of Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon amount to "the mother of all battle sequences," he says. "It's truly a Battle Royale. Nonstop mayhem battle....and your mouth is open that he did this. It's really noticably epic...a big selling point. |

Re: Transformers 3 Announced
Black Hawk Down action? Isn't that the opposite of "being able to recognize dudes"?

This is going to be tedious. 40-plus minutes of Bay spewing OVER-THE-TOP-NON-STOP-ACTION ejaculate all over the screen. Ugh. It's going to be overkill. Sure it's an action movie, but this dude has no use for restraint, finesse or understatement. -ohbfrank- |
Re: Transformers 3 Announced
I can't wait for this!

Re: Transformers 3 Announced
Lord help me, but I secretly enjoy how over-the-top Bay likes to make his action. I like his scenes of excessive hero worship. But I still can't drag my gf or my best friend to see this. I may be flying solo.

The man knows how to film action and he knows how to do it well. For example, the entire 40-minute raid on Pearl Harbor is the only decent thing about that movie. It's too bad that Bay thought it had to be a lifeless Titanic clone, because it would've been better as a hard-up, straight action film. If 40-plus minutes of 153 are that of spectacular action, then that's better than Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen right there. |
Re: Transformers 3 Announced
Does anyone know if this will playing in D-Box? I am going to be in NM that weekend, and they just opened a screen, but I don't know yet if it will be playing.

Woo, McTiernan, Cameron, Spielberg, Friedkin and Carpenter, to name a few, are all far superior directors of action sequences. Never mind old school directors like Peckinpah, Wellman, Hawkes and Curtiz. Bay is the king of action porn. Excessive amounts of swirling, diving 360 degree camera movement coupled with the requisite explosions, smoke, split second edits, loud, chaotic CGI fueled visual vomit. He's certainly not bereft of talent, far from it, it's just that IMHO he lacks a certain discipline behind the camera when it comes to his action sequences. His movies are bloated and soulless. That said, I'm going to hope for the best with this film. I'm certainly going to see it on the big screen. I'd love nothing more than for Bay to someday deliver a 100 minute, lean, mean well written piece of action cinema. I think he's capable of something special if he can just learn to pare it down. |
