It looks amazing! I'm there day-one!

But I get a serious "psycho rapist" vibe from Shia Labouf in that first scene with the blond.

I have to admit, I loved seeing Prime swoop in and go into beserker mode.

Great looking trailer. I figured we would have seen a glimpse of Megatron and Starscream. I wonder how prominent they are in this one.

Once again Bay made something completely awesome looking! Never understood the hate for him, his movies looks great and are fun as hell. I want to see robots break shit and blow people up, and that's what I get. Midnight IMAX for me!

Not exactly...they've failed to visibly blow people up.

Bay gets hate cuz the story that sets up the action is usually pretty damn stupid. Also...from these films...we get too much humans and not enough Transformers.

Let's size that up, please...

oh this is pretty damn cool...I love seeing Bay shoot his action. So much live action shit going on there...love it.

Also, Bay gets a lot of hate from a lot of people who believe that the director should get sole credit/blame for the creativity of a movie. In truth, as much a debacle as Revenge of the Fallen was, I give Bay a lot of credit for managing to complete a production of that scale in that time. Fault for the inane story should go to Orci and Kurtzman, who wrote it. And even then I suppose given that the were literally writing it a few pages at a time so it could go into production, even they should get some credit.

True...he is a very talented filmmaker either way. He shot that beast of a film and it got done. Story wise...who knows what it was actually like? If i remember correctly weren't the twins Bay's creation? At it's core if it had a tighter story and more logic I guess...it could've been much better. Whatever that script was and whatever changes Bay did do to it...who knows? I'd like to know though.

Maybe not the brightest guy at understanding certain issues w/ a story but he really knows his action. Though TF2 had some issues w/ that editing wise and whatnot..but damnit....that Shanghai sequence was pretty badass.

It's my understanding, based on interviews, DVD bonus content, etc. that Bay has had input on specific gags and moments he thinks are necessary to sustain the interest of young, impatient viewers. It's pandering, but given the financial showing of his films I think he's got a good point about knowing his audience. I didn't care for the twins, but hell...at least they were obnoxious Transformers instead of obnoxious humans.

That forest battle is still one of the most thrilling scenes I've seen in a movie. And even though story-wise I got bored in the second half, the locations were spectacular. I'm used to exotic locales in the Bond movies, but seeing Turtorro standing on a pyramid was unbelievable.

Re: Transformers 3 Announced

Well we do know the wrecking balls/scrotum gag was actually the writers' idea. They even take full credit for it in the audio commentary (and even gush about it as if it's the the greatest thing ever).

Give Bay a good script and he'll give you and awesome-looking good movie, Give him a bad script and he'll give you an awesome-looking bad movie.

...the mom. And the roommate. And actually anytime a human spoke honestly...the humans are the worst written ones. EXCEPT for the military guys..they do alright.

Re: Transformers 3 Announced

You know, I actually liked the parents. What I didn't like was the pot brownies gag. I don't think the concept of Sam's mom being high was a bad one. It's the setup that totally ruined it. How does anyone over 20 not know what pot brownies are? Hell, there was a marijuana leaf on the label of the bag the brownies were in.

The roommate sucked. Yeah, the "you landed on my balls" gag made me laugh but everything else felt forced. But the audience I saw this with, and most people that have watched it with me, love the roommate. So what do I know? Hell, I liked the Twins so it's all subjective anyway.

Wait a minute, I can actually see whats going on in this trailer. I think this was directed by a fake Michael Bay.

This is what was necessary to recover from Revenge of the Fallen.

Well he shot it in 3D. One of the necessities of properly shooting footage in 3D is that there can't be any machinegun editing. So we'll be getting action akin to the forest battle.

Heck, even the opening Shanghai sequence of ROTF was pretty relaxed (for a post-2000 action flick). If only it had been shot in IMAX... :(

So the on set video says the new chick is playing Mikeala Banes but imdb says her character's name is Carly. Which is it? I hope she's a new character. I hate it when sequels try to pass off a different actor as the same character especially when this new ugly chick doesn't even remotely look like Megan Fox.
