Re: Transformers 3 Announced

I wasn't impressed. This has potential to be better than the first two movie but they didn't exactly set the bar that high. It just seems like more of the same. I'm hoping they can finally pull off a Transformers movie that holds up on a second viewing once the spectacle wears off and you look past the action and fancy special effects.

She plays a different character, not Mikaela.

Robots!

I love how there is no shaky cam. All praise 3D cameras!

Re: Transformers 3 Announced

Not all of it was shot on 3D. Most of the film (i.e. action sequences) was shot using the Fusion, but Bay still utilized 35mm cameras during the shoot for close-ups on the actors' faces and various shots he thought he could only achieve using 35mm cameras. The film will be a true hybrid of shot-in 3D/post-conversion 3D.

I will say that while I hate the first two films, whomever edits these trailers has already sold me on a third film because goddamn that trailer was epic with numerous money shots.

Ugh.

anybody notice that ship behind OP at the end of that trailer? Wonder if that little moment is at the end of the film cuz it'd a good ending to it all somehow...Autobots take the fight back to Cybertron leaving Earth to it's own issues etc etc....

Wow, this looks terrible. I thought the second one looked bad, this looks to be melodramatic over-the-top garbage with bad CGI and lousy 3D post-production gone wild. Sorry if I'm the odd man out, but yeesh, this looks bad.

I wonder if Bay has changed his editing style and penchant for close-in shots during action sequences so the 3D can be better appreciated. I know I would NOT want to see a typical Bay film in 3D because the 3D combined with closeups and rapid cutting would fry my brain.

Maybe he pulled the camera back a bit and let shots go on a second or two longer so we can take things in better, a la AVATAR.

Great looking trailer. I figured we would have seen a glimpse of Megatron and Starscream. I wonder how prominent they are in this one.

I think I spotted Starscream when Bumblebee was using his parkour skills to rescue those two soldiers from the building. At first I thought it was simply a jet that crashed into a building but now I think it may be Starscream trying to kill those two soldiers.

IMDB's faq section claims the Twins are cut from the film. I hope that's true.

Bay himself made that claim as well. But given his penchant for lies (and the fact that Wheelie is still around), I bet they'll maybe get one or two moments in the background during the major action.

Kinda looks like Omega Supreme to me. I have no idea if he's in the movie though.

If it has a decent script, more Transformers than humans and is enjoyable to watch, then yes, it'll top the first one.

I'm cautious about this - in theory the Transformers movies sound great. In execution, Bay (and I place the blame solely on him) always manages to follow a great moment with an awful moment, so I spend most of my time going "That rocked!" followed by "that might be the dumbest thing I've ever seen".

Here's hoping the balance is less Twins-dog humping-pot brownies-peeing on things-robot balls and more kick ass stuff this time around. Too bad it's in 3D (I was hoping Bay wouldn't cave to that nonsense and maybe help shove the industry back to rational thought) but I'll just catch a 2D showing.

Is this a "movie"?

But you can see the things that are exploding, that already puts it a league above Battle LA and the last Transformers.

I, too, wish Bay had released a more touching trailer, eschewing the robot action in favor of watching Shia care for his ailing mother, who now has cancer.

So there shouldn't even be an attempt to make a good movie as long as it's a summer action blockbuster. What kind of retarded argument is that?

See....there's a problem w/ what you're saying.

Each movie made by any film director for the most part attempts to make a good movie. I believe Bay does attempt. It's whether or not his taste translates to actual overall quality.

What Valkyrie said about it

1. Melodramatic? yeah...maybe
2. Over the top? Well when you have transforming robots as the basis..yeah...it is.
3. Bad CGI? Far from it..that's solid work. Comparing the work here in comparison to something like GL...you can tell how much more work ILM has w/ it so far. It's solid stuff.
4. lousy 3D post work? We don't know that yet. It's a 2D trailer...

From what i can get from that trailer is...pretty cool stunts, top notch effects, stakes being raised, and a lot of action. That's what's attractive for a project like this...especially in a trailer. What we all hope for is a good story to tie that all together coherently.

the original cartoon and comic books had the story as "good" and "evil" robots fighting a war for energy and end up on earth even though they have never traveled in space before. the space ship is seen sticking out of a mountain and shockingly has never been noticed by humans, ever.

the good robots take in a kid and his father who seem to be auto mechanics and don't really do anything useful. and they have very little interaction with the governments of the world and the autobots seem to be able to ride from the USA to China and all corners of the world in record time.
at least the movie version had megan fox for us mid 30's types to keep us interested.

to keep the story going hasbro and whoever made the cartoon added construction trucks that turn into a super robot as a voltron rip off, insect robots, and retarted/autistic dino robots

seriously, i've seen better quality story telling in video games. this isn't oscar quality material

my 3 year old watches the original cartoons sometimes, and one day i'm going to have to explain the concept of a cassette player and fast forwarding or rewinding to the song you want to hear at the moment.

Not in my book... Diaz has her rare, "Kinda looks good" moments but she's generally a Pig.
