Yeah, the crashed ship is reminiscent of the Ark.

The music in the trailer is really good. I'm looking forward to the score.

So was that Alpha Trion or Sentinel Prime?

He looks a lot like Alpha Trion.

I also thought Alpha Trion, but I don't recall him playing that much of a part aside from the second season, where of course it was revealed he had a lot of importance, just little presence. I just hope they keep him wise if they use him, and not make him into some old folks joke like they did with Jetfire.

Why don't I remember Alpha Trion at all???

I bet anything that it ends up being Unicron.

I kinda liked the trailer.

Yes, he does. Which is why that's who first popped into my head when I saw him at the end of the trailer. However, I also recall that Sentinel Prime is supposed to play a role in this movie and I wonder if they simply mashed the two characters together.

Yeah, given Alpha Trion turned Orion Pax into Optimus Prime and had a hand in pretty much everything else regarding the Autobot's history, I wonder if they'll use him as a means of cleaning up the whole "last of the Primes"mess they made in the second movie.

It's a Bay film...if it does happen...it'll be confusing and stupider than what it is.

4) I'll probably buy the BD on release day.

Count me in for #3, I love "big, loud and dumb..." for a summer flick. My son and I have tons of fun at these kinds of movies.

I don't care about how intelligent the plot is at this point. I just want to see actual Transformers throwing down instead of another 2 and a half hour commercial for the military.

Hyperbole much? The military had less screentime than the robots. Sure, they show up at the begining (and get their asses kicked in the opening of both films) and then show up at the end for the big finale. The middle is Shia and pals with some robot action to move things along. Although sometimes the robots also get in on the comedy routines (to hit-and-miss results, much like the humans). The last (unfortunately) occuring more in the second movie.

A friend of mine was discharged from the Air Force after six years shortly before the first movie opened. He straight up told me that it was exciting enough to make him want to re-enlist, and that he expected it would be great for recruiting. His second remark was that he wished there'd been more of the actual Transformers in the Transformers movie. That's pretty consistent with the response I've seen and heard from most people who've seen the movies.

In any event, I'm pretty sure Josh Duhamel and his group have more screen time than any Transformer other than Bumblebee or Optimus Prime. Somewhere out there, I'm sure someone has actually timed this.

I'll agree with you that the robots need more screentime. But I wonder if people count the Sector 7 stuff as part of the US military scenes. I will grant you that the first 40 minutes of the first movie can be considered military-centric with regards to the sequences of Duhamel and his squad, though that actually had somewhat less screentime to the whole business of Labouf getting the car and then trying to impress Fox.

As for being a great ad for recruitment, except for the awesome Scorponok fight (which only showed how barely capable the military was at taking out one drone) and the Mission City fight (which the only kill the military scored was Blackout since Bumblebee killed Devastator and Sam killed Megatron), the military was being shown as incapable of fighting these robots. The opening of the first movie is one robot destroying an entire base with only a handful of soldiers escaping.

The second movie shows the NEST team botching the Shanghai operation despite Autobot support and having to rely on Optimus Prime to mop up the mess. The rest of the film they're crippled by beaurocratic red tape and then at the end the Decepticons (though clearly more killable than in the first film) mostly hand their asses to them and then the Fallen shows up and kills the rest. The only major kill the military scored was Devastator and that was only because Simmons told them what to do.

Sure, we get to see all the cool toys the military has (and how professional they are) and that was a whole lot of fun to see. But, for the most part, they were the Decepticons' bitch.

Re: Transformers 3 Announced

Whether the military is successful or not is secondary to my larger concern, which is that we've only really had one fight scene in two movies that didn't include them, and that was the forest battle in the second movie. I wish they'd just assigned Bay the G.I. Joe movies (which, really, seems like the obvious pairing, and one where he could really deliver the goods).

I never got the impression that Transformers played up the military that much either. My complaint is too much time spent on humans in general, but mostly Shia and not any of the military guys.

THIS...minimize the Sam and dumb bitch roles and increase more Autobots w/ Military action.

Re: Transformers 3 Announced

Yup. I was fine with the military since they were mainly robot fodder and helped show how tough those robots are to kill. The problem is with there being far too much focus on Sam and his issues. It's okay for the story to be told through his eyes but the story shouldn't be about him.

Dark of the Moon? That title makes no sense... Darkness of the Moon or Dark Side of the Moon (though I never would've forgiven Bay if they had used that one)...

EDIT: So apparently it's another way of saying "New moon?" Huh...

RUMOR: Omega Supreme is the Ark in Transformers 3 Trailer

An Italian blog tells us that the Ark on the dark side of the moon may in fact be the Transformer Omega Supreme. And the fire truck is ... Sentinel Prime! What do you think?
http://www.comicbookmovie.com/images...-3-the-ark.jpg

http://www.comicbookmovie.com/images...%20supreme.jpg

This from the Screenweek.it...

A reader alerted us to an interesting image. Below is a rendering of the Ark, the ship appeared in the trailer for Transformers: Dark of the Moon, TRANSFORMERS!

The hypothesis is that there may be Omega Supreme ("advanced weapon resembling the namesake of the series G1 Autobot that transforms into the spaceship land division which looks like the Ark of the G1 series" source Wikipedia).

Obviously this is not the official image (or at least not yet), what do you think?

The release of Transformers: The Dark of the Moon is scheduled for July 1, 2011 in America.

Either way, Micheal Bay is probably going try to shoot his load in the biggest way possible without having to use Unicron.

I am sure Hasbro made Unicron hands off to Bay as they would want to continue making TF movies after Bay is done. And frankly, once you've done Unicron...thats it, theres nothing left.

pretty much....after TRANSFORMERS: THE MOVIE...the actual transformers series of that time....sucked hard. Not that it was a great show but damnit... it was awesome. Watching S1 I was embarrassed to not remember how weird it was...transformers..SURFING?! what? But yeah...it ended in 86 for those guys and not until Beast Wars did we actually something to really care about storywise for Transformers. Unfortunately being a cg animated show...it hasn't aged too well...looks horrible..lol.

I really liked Revenge of the Fallen, I always skip over the silly humor. This movie with about 20 minutes shaved off is about a 3.5/5, imo.

I think the first Transformers is near perfect in what it sets out to do. Michael Bay is one of my favorite action directors, so i've really anticipated these stupid films.
