still weird that they couldn't give Soundwave that voice decoder...such a simple thing..and even that can't be given to us.

yeah, that was really lame. it's been 2 years for them, you'd think that even if the problem had come back that would be enough time for Ratchet to fix it

it was lame
although I guess no lamer than the twins, or wheelie being a decepton at first and actually managing to be as annoying or more than the wheelie from the cartoon movie

Edit - Oh wait.. there was CNN, and President Obama was explicitly mentioned which took me out of the movie. Like Obama would ever hire that stereotypical douchy bureaucrat government guy to take over NEST.
naming a real president instead of just saying "the president" was stupid

It was after the movie came out I think. It was the old school series...and to be honest about. Turns out all I truly remember about the old school Transformers series was season 1, as reruns...in the early-mid 90s. I turned it off if Prime wasn't in the shows. Hot Rod was boring as a leader.

also...hahahaha...Transformers surfing in season 1.

They were in the Transformers Victory series, and in the comics. They also made a toy line of them.

Screenwriter Ehren Kruger was signed on for his encyclopedic knowledge of writing nothing but shit and because he was a good friend of Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci.
Fixed.

I cant believe I am saying this but I found this very entertaining. much more so than the forest transformers movie.
FInally saw this yesterday and found it to be a very fun time.
I gave the first Transformers a C rating but I give Transformers II a B

Man, that "forest transformers" movie sounds really intriguing. Do the giant robots turn into trees? Cool. How refreshingly green for this eco-conscious age. How do we see that?

Given its bloated 2 hour+ run time that doesn't surprise me.

it's like the new Madonna album. In the 80's it was pulp, today it's high art

Question about this film:

At some point in the Egypt scenes, we see that Shia LeB. has a cast on his hand. Presumably from the road accident he had while shooting the movie. I don't recall this cast on his hand being explained at all in the film's dialogue. It really took me out of the movie. Did anyone else notice it and have a similar reaction? Was there ever an explanation for it proffered?

He hurt his hand and his girlfriend wrapped it up. I don't think it was supposed to be a cast.

They did explain why he has a cast/bandage on his arm.

He is the only one in the group stupid enough to land wrong after coming out of the skybridge. There is a shot of him wincing in pain as he lands then there is another brief scene where Mikala magically pulls out a proper sized bandage and with her extensive medical training, wraps the injured appendage accordingly.

Its not like they couldn't steal a Die Hard, Speed, or "random action hero" moment where the bandage is made from a shirt and wrapped haphazardly. Then with Bay's magic skills, digitally erase the portions of the cast showing through the bandage.

But hey, as I said before, there are more important things to use the computer for like addings balls to a Transformer.

When Sam and Mikaela where sharing a quiet moment under the stars while in Egypt, Mikaela puts on the cast for Sam. Just don't ask where she got the splints and everything else to bandage him so thoroughly.

Bay probably figured she's a mechanic and they're basically doctors for cars so the skillsets must be interchangeable.

Poorly rendered balls to boot. Although I dunno if that's really a complaint. It just struck me as odd that they felt the need to put those on him but weren't compelled enough to put any real effort in rendering them. Of course, the whole Devastator sequence looked like crap so I guess that's par for the course. Too bad cos I actually kinda liked his fucked up Big Daddy design.

So can we come to a consensus that this must be the most successful movie to be reviled by so many?

Yeah. It's basically Battlefield Earth had it made a profit. Although I may have enjoyed Battlefield Earth more.

Around DVDTalk, I would have thought that to be Shrek.
