Alternatively, I think it would be pretty dumb to automatically assume every comic book movie will be a success because of Guardians of the Galaxy and Ant-Man.
I don't automatically assume every comic movie is going to be successful because of GOTG/Ant-Man. It's just that the other poster's comment about this movie being ignored by the general public reminded me so much of people saying GOTG/Ant-Man would likewise be ignored by the general public.

Personally, I am not that excited for the Deadpool movie. The trailer showed a reliance on too much pop culture for its humor which just isn't my cup of tea. I will go see the movie because I have seen every other X-Men franchise movie, but I am just not looking as forward to it as I have for most movies in this franchise. I am thinking this might be the first movie in the franchise that I don't buy the Blu-ray (and I do own the Blu-rays of X-Men 3 and X-Men Origins: Wolverine). I am not looking particularly forward to the Gambit movie either.

I think your comps are pretty shaky there, but I'm not going to dwell on that. We've already spent way too much time arguing over what I thought was a pretty innocuous comment.

Negativity! And just for clarification, I didn't think you even saw movies in the theater. Don't you always wait for them to come out on dvd? Or am I confusing you with taffer?

Yeah at first I thought they were different posters but the more I read his posts he seems like the same damn guy. If not they're damn near twins.

Basically the same thing to me, since we're talking about a movie's success. And as we've discussed, I don't think it's anywhere close to being similar.

I still think they're the same person, posting under a different account.

Isn't there a rule on DVDTalk about multiple accounts though? Unless he's using a different email address.

And different IP, but that's fairly easy to get around. Doesn't really bother me, I just think its funny. Especially since I remember kgrogers from years ago doing the similar obscure comic book references and images, before reappearing shortly after taffer "left"

Fair enough. My original reply to your original comment was mostly just a joke anyway since it struck me as yet another "this movie is gonna bomb" post even if that wasn't your intent. I don't really care one way or the other.

You're confusing me with taffer. I don't go to the theater often, but I do go a few times a year. Mostly I just go to the big summer blockbuster type movies since those benefit most from the theater experience. Other movies I am content with watching at home.

I think most of us have a little taffer in us. (That's what she said.)

A lot of people here post comic references and images.

This Deadpool will have swords growing out of his hands like in Wolverine?

Re: Deadpool - X-Men spinoff (2016, D: Tim Miller) S: Ryan Reynolds

They had the full Fantastic Four trailer playing on American Ninja Warrior last night and then Deadpool hijacked it at the end, mentioning to see his trailer before the movie.

The market for Deadpool is fairly similar to the market for Kick-Ass. Deadpool obviously has more name recognition with comic book fans than that property had before hitting movie theaters.

Nope. That's out of continuity now with DOFP. And even if it wasn't, they would still most likely ignore it.

Tonight's episode of Conan will be rated TV-MA just because of running the red band Deadpool trailer.

I would be kind of surprised if they ignored it completely just because it has potential for making jokes about it. Someone posted a teaser earlier which made fun of it with a line about "having his mouth sewn shut." I wouldn't be surprised if the full movie breaks the fourth wall making fun of the movie in a similar way. Personally, I am kind of hoping for a Mortal Kombat/Baraka joke.

Reynolds has confirmed breaking of the fourth wall and the comic con trailer showed him breaking the fourth wall.

Did they edit the redband? I swear the leaked footage from comic-con, morena was not wearing a bra, and he didn't say "old lady pants", he said something like vag... but all those videos are gone now...

Edit - he did say pants, but does look like she's bra-less.

Looks great. I've always like Reynolds. He's usually the best part of a bad movie for me. Love the vibe, love the look, and I am totally up for something different.
