Deadpool - X-Men spinoff (2016, D: Tim Miller) S: Ryan Reynolds
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Fresh off the muscular box-office performance of "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," one of the film's characters is headed for a movie of his own.
20th Century Fox is developing a spin-off featuring Deadpool, the wise-cracking mercenary played in the film by Ryan Reynolds.
In "Deadpool," Reynolds will reprise the "merc with a mouth," known for his slapstick tone and propensity to break the fourth wall.
It is understood that the character would regain the ability to mouth off, after having suffered a setback in "Wolverine." Deadpool also was disfigured in the current film, but it's unclear how much the studio would want to mess with Reynolds' handsome mug in the new feature.
Fox considered a "Deadpool" spin-off early in "Wolverine's" development process, and cast Reynolds with that possibility in mind.
Reynolds, onscreen in the ensemble coming-of-age movie "Adventureland," next stars opposite Sandra Bullock in Disney's romantic comedy "The Proposal."

Or maybe they're pissed about a shitty portrayal of a well-liked character in a steaming turd of a movie.
Not that I give a rat's sloppy violated ass about Deadpool (I'm a DC guy, mostly), but I can totally see why they're upset....

Holy shit, Deadpool is in the Wolverine movie? I don't care for Wolverine and haven't seen any of the X-Men movies besides the first one, but i'll have to check it out because i've always liked Deadpool.

Well it's good that they're making a spin-off and keeping Reynolds but how are they going to rectify everything that was done wrong in Wolverine? Hell, with all the reshoots and pickups, I 'm still wondering

So, is his sexuality supposed to be in question? Just based on the interchange from Wolverine...
I wonder if they'll just make it a prequel?...

Honestly, you would think his mug would make a appearence in the deadpool spinoff. I mean no point putting a 'recognized' face into a role where all you can see is just the eyes.

Given the extra scene at the end of (some) Wolverine credits, I could see some way for them to continue where they left off.

Something that i am still not clear on is how a company like Fox can produce spin offs in this way. I admit that i know nothing about the licensing deals that go on, but when they got the rights to the X-men it seems that they also got the rights to a hell of a lot of characters that also appeared in the comics in one shape or form. So we are looking at Magneto and Deadpool movies as possibilities. But how do they come under the licensing? If Fox have a general license to reproduce anything that is in the X-ment comics then why do characters like Hulk, Spiderman etc. not fall under it? I know that they are more financially viable characters, but again what seperates them legally from the others? It just pisses me off that Fox has these rights and they are screwing up great characters by crappy movies. Does anyone know when their licensing rights expire and Marvel have a chance to get their characters back?

I hear it's going to be 85 minutes with credits.
I don't care about this one either way, but if they manage to not fuck it (but, since it's Fox, I know better) I'll probably check it out.

Id like a lean mean Deadpool movie, with a modest budget. Not a big budget, but enough to make a solid movie. Lots of wisecracks, lots of killing. But not some overblown CGI fest.
